MechWarrior 5: Clans Stomping to PC, PlayStation and Xbox in 2024 from Piranha Games

Piranha Games revealed MechWarrior 5: Clans today, a new stand alone MechWarrior game coming to PC, Xbox and PlayStation consoles next year. MechWarrior 5: Clans, while retaining the MechWarrior 5 designation, represents a transformative step forward in the MechWarrior 5 franchise. MechWarrior 5: Clans linear campaign will be an evolution of gameplay and storytelling in the MechWarrior series, experienced from the perspective of Clan Smoke Jaguar in the pivotal conflict known as the Clan Invasion starting in the year 3050.

MechWarrior 5: Clans follows Piranha's 2019 hit, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, which was a campaign-based, open ended, procedural experience, selling more than 1.5 million units with a current 9/10 Very Positive ranking on Steam from more than 7,500 user reviews.

Games With NVIDIA RTX, Part 2: Metro Exodus, Mech Warrior 5 - Mercenaries

The highly-awaited Metro Exodus, based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's Metro novels, also was presented as an RTX game. 4A Games praised the ease of RTX's implementation into their custom graphics pipeline. This came after 4A Games had already developed their Global Illumination system that was present and developed based on the previous games, and RTX's implementation basically overruled all of their techniques for that particular set of graphical effects. Sampling the environment with single-ray bounces allows for temporally coherent scenes and surfaces linked by refracting and bouncing rays of light.

A very impressive part of the presentation revolved around opening up windows for more light to penetrate the environment, with actual changes in ambient lighting, brightness, shadows and details changing dynamically. 4A Games also mentioned the emergent graphical effects that weren't programmed into the pipeline, such as pulsing lights dancing with the light sources, as part of a massive technological leap.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Will Have Four Player Co-Op & Full Mod Support

Piranha Games announced tonight at Mech_Con that the upcoming and highly anticipated MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries will feature four-player co-op and full modding and Steam Workshop support, and during the keynote speech at the event revealed all-new gameplay footage showcasing a variety of 'Mechs in combat on a selection of biomes to be featured in the final game, set to launch in late 2018.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries features intense PvE 'Mech combat in an immersive, career-based Mercenary campaign driven by player choice. Featuring an advancing timeline starting in the year 3015, players will adopt the role of a new MechWarrior mercenary thrust into leadership of a mercenary squad as the Third Succession War continues to fracture the Inner Sphere; the vast region of colonized space surrounding Earth. Victory, prestige, and profit will not only require skill on the battlefield, but in the maintenance and enhancement of your BattleMechs.
