Eurocom Releases 780W Adapter for Mobile Workstations

Eurocom aims to eliminate energy bottlenecks in high performance laptops with a single AC adapter, offers 780-Watt power supply for the laptop industry. In the not-so-distant past, laptops and small form factor pc's were stuck in the middle ground of technology between smart phones and desktops when it came to portability, power and performance. Laptops were not as portable as smart phones and were heavily under-powered compared to common desktop PC's. As a result, laptops were not considered powerful enough to take on more intensive tasks and processes.

However, over the last half decade, laptops and small form factor PCs have closed the gap between desktop PCs in terms of power and performance. Due to many technological leaps and innovations over the years, laptops across different price points are able to come very close to matching the compute power of modern day desktop PCs. Laptops are now trusted with handling highly intensive tasks and are relied upon by users who benefit from having a less bulky and more portable computer that provides incredible performance on the go.

POWER-SUPPLaY Cyberattack Steals Data From Air-Gapped PC via Power Supply

It was only a few weeks ago when we reported that Dr. Mordechai Guri and his team had devised a new cyberattack known as Air-ViBeR which could use the vibrations of a PC's fans to steal data by regulating fan speed and recording the sounds on a nearby smartphone. This time Dr. Mordechai and his team have discovered a way to silently transmit data from the ultrasonic frequencies put out by a PC power supply they have dubbed this new attack POWER-SUPPLaY. The cyberattack involves a piece of malware that can alter system load by changing the CPU workload, this causes the PC power supply to change its ultrasonic frequencies which can be detected by a smartphone at a maximum distance of 5 m.

While this cyberattack is certainly technologically impressive, it is unlikely to ever be used out of anything but a Hollywood movie due to some fatal limitations. The attack requires the computer to be compromised and for a mobile device to be within listening distance for a prolonged time, the transmission rate of the attack is only 50 bits per second, or equivalent to about 22.5 kB per hour. With such a low transmission rate the only data that could be feasibly transmitted would be plain text at a rate of 10,000 words an hour.

This monster cooling solution consists of a massive reservoir/distribution block connected to a pump which feeds coolant to four graphics cards and two processors at up to 3000L/H. Heat dissipation was handled by 1x 520mm and 2x 420mm radiators equipped with 10x 140mm RGB fans. Regardless of any specifics in terms of this water cooling loops actual performance, the system on display was certainly a sight to behold, which was made all the more noticeable by a massive show of ARGB lighting.

ASUS at Computex 2019: TUF Gaming VG27AQ Monitor, ROG STRIX 650 W Gold Power Supply

ASUS at Computex 2019 showcased a myriad of products - as is usual, for one of the foremost PC hardware manufacturers. This news piece breaks down two of these products: the TUF Gaming VG27AQ monitor and the ROG STRIX 650 W Gold power supply. Starting with that which allows you to see, the TUF Gaming VG27AQ monitor features both ULMB and Adaptive Sync support (in the form of AMD's FreeSync and NVIDIA's G-Sync). Dubbed ELMB, the new feature allows the monitor to keep its Active Sync features active for super smooth gameplay, whilst enabling motion blur reduction - usually, a choice between the two technologies has to be made.

The 27" screen offers an IPS panel with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, 1 ms response time and maximum 155 Hz refresh rate (Adaptive Sync works between the 40-155 Hz interval) over a DisplayPort connection (144 Hz max over HDMI). A maximum brightness of 350 cd/m² doesn't win any serious accolades, but is more than enough for gaming scenarios. Connectors stand at 2x HDMI 1.4 ports, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, and 2x USB 3.0 ports.

Cooler Master Unveils V Gold and Platinum PSU Series

Cooler Master today welcomed a new entry to its "V Series" power supplies, adding various Gold and Platinum PSUs. These new models are representing successors to the very well known V series Cooler Master has launched a few years ago. In order to live up to its name, the new models are packing improvements in every aspect possible with less noise and more efficiency.

There are several new models ranging from 650-750 Watts for Gold and 850-1300 Watts for Platinum. What makes them different from previous V series models is a range of many small improvements like better wires to deliver more power to even hungrier GPUs. The Industry standard for wire size is 18 AWG, but Cooler Master went beyond that and put 16 AWG, in order to increase current capacity. The new 100 percent Japanese capacitors allow the new models to operate silently under 40% load.

Cooler Master Launches the new V Gold Series Power Supply Units

Available in the US and Canada in two wattage levels, 650W and 750W, the new V Gold PSU features a semi-fanless mode that enables the 135mm fan at 40% load. Users can manually de-activate the semi-fanless mode via the hybrid switch located at the rear of the PSU.

Thermaltake Outs Toughpower PF1 ARGB Power Supply Series

Thermaltake today rolled out the Toughpower PF1 ARGB of high-end power supplies. Available in three high-Wattage models of 850W, 1050W, and 1200W, these PSUs are characterized by their large 140 mm Riing Duo 14 RGB fans, and addressable RGB LED embellishments along both sides of the body, which together make up 18 diodes. To control the lighting, the PSU plugs into a 3-pin addressable RGB header of your motherboard or lighting controller. In the absence of external control, you can cycle through built-in lighting presets by pushing buttons at the tail end of the PSU, located sufficiently away from the main AC switch. Another switch located close to the AC switch, completely turns off the fan.

Aesthetics aside, these PSU have some serious chops: single +12V rail design with 80 Plus Platinum rated efficiency, full DC-to-DC switching, LLC digital control, 100% Japanese capacitors, active PFC, and most common electrical protection mechanisms against over/under voltage, over/under current, overload, overheat, and short-circuit. You get fully modular cabling, with all three models offering two 4+4 pin EPS connectors. The 850W model has up to six 6+2 pin PCIe connectors, while the 1050W and 1200W offer eight. Thermaltake is backing these PSUs with 10-year warranties. The company didn't reveal pricing.
