HYTE Unveils the new SFF Revolt 3 PC Case as its Premier Product

NVIDIA Readying GeForce RTX 3090 SUPER, A Fully Unlocked GA102 with 400W Power?

NVIDIA is readying the GeForce RTX 3090 SUPER, the first "SUPER" series model from the RTX 30-series, following a recent round of "Ti" refreshes for its product stack. According to kopite7kimi and Greymon55, who each have a high strike-rate with NVIDIA rumors, the RTX 3090 SUPER could finally max-out the 8 nm "GA102" silicon on which nearly all high-end models from this NVIDIA GeForce generation are based. A fully unlocked GA102 comes with 10,752 CUDA cores, 336 Tensor cores, 84 RT cores, 336 TMUs, and 112 ROPs. The RTX 3090 stops short of maxing this out, with its 10,496 CUDA cores.

NVIDIA's strategy with the alleged RTX 3090 SUPER will be to not only max out the GA102 silicon, with its 10,752 CUDA cores, but also equip it with the fastest possible GDDR6X memory variant, which ticks at 21 Gbps data-rate, compared to 19.5 Gbps on the RTX 3090, and 19 Gbps on the RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 Ti. At this speed, across the chip's 384-bit wide memory bus, the RTX 3090 SUPER will enjoy 1 TB/s of memory bandwidth. Besides more CUDA cores, it's possible that the GPU Boost frequency could be increased. All this comes at a cost, though, with Greymon55 predicting a total graphics power (TGP) of at least 400 W, compared to 350 W of the RTX 3090. A product launch is expected within 2021.

NVIDIA and its Partners to Bundle Battlefield 2042 with RTX 30-series Desktops and Laptops

NVIDIA announced that it is bundling the hotly anticipated online multiplayer shooter, "Battlefield 2042," with select pre-built desktops and laptops that feature GeForce RTX 30-series "Ampere" graphics cards. Slated for release in October, the game will be included as pre-order coupons with select pre-builts that have GeForce RTX 3070, RTX 3070 Ti, RTX 3080, RTX 3080 Ti, and RTX 3090. The RTX 3060 and RTX 3060 Ti miss out. There is no word on whether custom-design RTX 30-series graphics cards sold in the DIY retail channel through AIC partners are covered by the giveaway, but from what we can tell, they're not. That's not all, purchasing a qualifying desktop or laptop not only sets you up for a copy of "Battlefield 2042" Standard Edition, but also early access to the game's Open Beta, and in-game goodies such as exclusive weapon charms, player cards, backgrounds, and a special weapon. The bundle is only available in select markets, through participating retailers, and cover a selection of pre-built desktops and laptops.

NVIDIA Announces Financial Results for Second Quarter Fiscal 2022

NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) today reported record revenue for the second quarter ended August 1, 2021, of $6.51 billion, up 68 percent from a year earlier and up 15 percent from the previous quarter, with record revenue from the company's Gaming, Data Center and Professional Visualization platforms. GAAP earnings per diluted share for the quarter were $0.94, up 276 percent from a year ago and up 24 percent from the previous quarter. Non-GAAP earnings per diluted share were $1.04, up 89 percent from a year ago and up 14 percent from the previous quarter.

"NVIDIA's pioneering work in accelerated computing continues to advance graphics, scientific computing and AI," said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. EVGA is Requesting Scalper-level Pricing for Advanced GPU RMA Program

Just a few days back, we have seen reports being made about EVGA graphics cards dying from playing a closed beta test of Amazon Game's New World MMORPG game. Multiple users are reporting on their GPUs getting fried from playing the game, and EVGA is already offering a replacement for the GPUs. However, today's situation appears to be slightly different. According to the report coming from Igor's Lab, EVGA is charging premium prices for its advanced GPU RMA service, getting some criticism from the community. For starters, the advanced RMA service is a service designed for EVGA customers to send their faulty GPUs, pay a deposit, receive a replacement GPU from EVGA, and once EVGA receives the old GPU, it returns the deposit to the person who made it. It basically allows less downtime for owners of the GPU, with a replacement quickly on the way.

All of that is working neatly in theory. However, as every person involved in the PC building recently knows, prices for GPUs are at an insane level as demand is much higher than the supply currently available. Igor's Lab has reportedly experienced a similar situation with EVGA as well. As Igor filed for the advanced RMA program, the deposit needed to be made. Instead of the regular 782 Euros (or about 931 Euros with VAT included) for EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra, EVGA asked for as much as a 1,728.20 Euro deposit to be made.

NVIDIA Showcases Custom RTX 3080 Graphics Cards at Bilibili World 2021 - Not for Sale

NVIDIA at Bilibili World 2021 showcased some custom RTX 3080 graphics cards - customizations which it commissioned to known modders. In total, three custom graphics cards were shown in a variety of colors, even though all of them shared the same base shroud design. The modders then played with illustrations and color coordination, which resulted in one orange RTX 3080 (featuring the Chengdu Hunters Overwatch clan insignia) and two turquoise/petrol graphics cards with differentiated accents (black and turquoise for the card inspired on Chinese role-playing game The Legend of Sword and Fairy, and white and petrol for the card celebrating the 9th anniversary of the Luo Tianyi anime series).

These graphics cards likely won't be put to sale in any way by NVIDIA; however, they could eventually decide to give them away as a prize for any sort of online competition, much like they did with the gorgeous, Cyberpunk 2077 interpretation of the RTX 2080 Ti some time ago - which the winner eventually sold at auction for $5,200 (at a time where graphics card pricing was actually saner). One could argue that NVIDIA should have just sent these towards the retail channel, but at least we got to see three RTX 3080's at the same time.

Intel DG2 Graphics Card Leakers Suggest Performance Similar to NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti, AMD RX 6700

Intel's foray into the discrete GPU market is inching ever closer, and with that diminishing time to market, leaks are getting more common. Renowned leaker TUM_APISAK has shared some performance numbers for Intel's upcoming DG2 graphics card, part of the company's Xe HPG (High Performance Gaming) architecture. In the leak, he also confirmed that Intel is working on a cut-down version of their top offering (which features 4,096 shading units spread across 512 EUs) in the form of a new SKU that offers 448 EUs and 3584 shading units running at 1.8 GHz. That is the actual chip whose relative performance was shared.

According to TUM_APISAK, users should expect the Intel DG2 448 EU graphics card to offer performance that's around the NVIDIA RTX 3070 (5% lower performance for the Intel part) and AMD's RX 6700 XT (8% lower performance for the Intel part). As for the performance of the full-fat 512 EU chip, another leaker, Moore's Law is Dead, expects its performance to fall very slightly lower than the performance offered by NVIDIA's RTX 3080 and AMD's RX 6800/6800 XT. The 512-EU DG2 should also feature higher Boost clocks up to 2.2 GHz. Intel's launch of their Xe HPG graphics architecture is expected to occur before the end of the year, likely starting with the highest performance/highest margin parts, trickling down the product stack through the beginning of 2022. Intel's launch should help in alleviating the lack of available graphics cards, whilst simultaneously breaking a duopoly market.

Secondary Market GPU Pricing in Downtrend, Better Times to be a Gamer May be Ahead

Millions of bytes have been written regarding the current GPU market conditions already, which pairs strained logistics channels due to COVID-19 with increased quarantine-fueled demand by gamers - while also throwing in semiconductor manufacturing woes, miners, and scalpers. All in all, it seems that miners and scalpers managed to get their hands on roughly 25% (around 700,000) of distributed current-gen graphics cards during Q1 2021 which, for some reason, seems much lower than the general perception on their impact on this market.

With that said, Reddit user @gregable aggregated daily pricing for GPUs on Ebay and then calculated the GPU's $/hashrate for Ethereum mining. With hashrates remaining steady for graphics cards, this effectively establishes a price trend for GPUs. The news are good, for once: prices are falling, with the average $ cost per MH falling from $26 on May 16th down to $20 as of yesterday. The move is supported mostly by price drops on high hash-rate graphics cards such as the RTX 3090 (a 32% price drop during this period) and RTX 3080/RTX 3070 graphics cards (which dropped by 25%).

EK Water Blocks, or simply EK as the company refers to itself now, had a decent showing at the virtual Computex 2021 event including new AIO CPU coolers, additions to its Fluid Gaming and Fluid Works portfolio, and more water blocks based on current designs and supporting newer hardware, including one we reported on just a few hours ago. These all interested me, but then there was a nearly two hour private conversation followed by a live stream that ended minutes ago which shed more light on future updates and products in its mainstream Quantum DIY liquid cooling lineup.

There were renders of the upcoming Velocity² CPU blocks shared before, but seeing them actually manufactured is a whole other thing. Velocity² is the update to EK's popular Velocity CPU blocks, with a complete redesign that evokes more comparisons to monoblocks than other CPU blocks. Taking cues from the flagship EK-Quantum Magnitude, you will see different cooling engines to better cool different CPU sockets. There is also a concealed aesthetic theme here, especially for the acetal top version where you can't see any screws in use, thanks to a patent-pending mounting mechanism from the back- again taking cues from monoblocks. EK says the new system uses "pre-tensioned springs concealed in the water block top, so with just a few turns on the thumb-nuts, the installation is finished". The brand new Vector Active Backplate directly cools all PCB hotspots found on the backside of the GPU core and VRM (voltage regulation module). NVIDIA today released their latest GeForce drivers, which keep your GPU of choice ticking with the least amount of problems possible - in theory. Version 466.47 WHQL of the GeForce drivers are Game Ready for Days Gone, one of the latest PlayStation exclusives to make the jump towards your gaming PC. The release notes also indicate that this particular driver is the base one for correct operation for GeForce RTX 3080, RTX 3070, and RTX 3060 TI graphics cards with LHR (low-hash-rate), which ship starting late May, 2021. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series Pricing Reaches 3x MSRP in Europe

NVIDIA's latest series of RTX 30 series graphics cards continue to remain elusive more than eight months after their release thanks to a combination of global chip shortages, logistics delays, and mining demand. The pricing for the latest generation graphics cards from various European retailers has been compiled and analyzed by 3DCentre and it paints a gloomy picture for gamers. The RTX 3080 now retails for 2999€ or 317% higher than the MSRP of 719€, other RTX 30 series cards saw price increases between 107% - 204%. This trend isn't exclusive to team Green with AMD's RX 6000 series also seeing significant price increases with the average price for an RX 6800 reaching 159% of MSRP at ~1600€, while other cards in the lineup see increases between 70% - 100%. We don't see these prices falling significantly anytime soon unless there is a large drop in mining demand or a significant production increase.

Intel Alder Lake-S Engineering Sample Spotted with DDR5-4800 Memory Running DOTA 2

Intel's upcoming Alder Lake-S processors are going to be the company's first attempt at delivering heterogeneous core solutions, combining low-power and high-performance IPs in a single chip. Another important milestone that these processors will reach is DDR5 memory adoption, the first of its kind on consumer platforms. Today, thanks to CapFrameX, a monitoring tool that also hosts a database of benchmark runs, we have a piece of recorded information coming from a test system equipped with an Intel Alder Lake-S processor. The tested system spotted an engineering sample of the Alder Lake-S lineup, clocked at just 2.2 GHz. The core count and core configuration remained unknown.

Alongside the upcoming CPU, the system is composed of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3080 GPU and DDR5 memory running at 4800 MHz. There were four sticks present, each having 8 GB capacity. The leaked system was running the DOTA 2 game at an average of 119.98 FPS, which doesn't mean much, given that we don't know which settings were applied and what was the resolution. There is a chart showing the gaming frame rate and frame time, which could be interesting to look at.
