SanDisk Announces Third Quarter Results

SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash storage solutions, today announced results for the third quarter ended September 29, 2013. Third quarter revenue of $1.63 billion increased 28 percent on a year-over-year basis and increased 10 percent sequentially.

On a GAAP basis, third quarter net income was $277 million, or $1.18 per diluted share, compared to net income of $77 million, or $0.31 per diluted share, in the third quarter of fiscal 2012 and $262 million, or $1.06 per diluted share, in the second quarter of fiscal 2013.

SanDisk Appoints D. Scott Mercer to its Board of Directors

Mercer has previously held board positions at Palm, Inc., SMART Modular Technologies (WWH), Inc., Alantec Corporation, NetRatings, Inc., and several private companies. SanDisk Completes Acquisition of SMART Storage Systems

SanDisk Announces Expanded Capital Return Program

SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global leader in flash memory storage solutions today announced that it has expanded its capital return program with the initiation of a quarterly dividend and the authorization of $2.5 billion of additional stock repurchases. The company will complete part of this stock repurchase through a $1.0 billion Accelerated Share Repurchase ("ASR") agreement, which was entered into today.

The SanDisk Board of Directors has approved the initiation of a quarterly cash dividend of $0.225 per share of common stock, equivalent to an annual yield of approximately 1.6% based on the July 31, 2013 closing price of $55.12. On an annualized basis, this will return approximately $220 million to stockholders based on shares outstanding as of June 30, 2013. The first dividend payment will be made on August 30, 2013 to holders of record on August 12, 2013. Future dividend payments are subject to review and approval by the Board.

SanDisk Announces Second Quarter Results

SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2013. Second quarter revenue of $1.48 billion increased 43 percent on a year-over-year basis and increased 10 percent sequentially. On a GAAP basis, second quarter net income was $262 million, or $1.06 per diluted share, compared to net income of $13 million, or $0.05 per diluted share, in the second quarter of fiscal 2012 and $166 million, or $0.68 per diluted share, in the first quarter of fiscal 2013.

On a non-GAAP basis, second quarter net income was $299 million, or $1.21 per diluted share, compared to net income of $51 million, or $0.21 per diluted share, in the second quarter of fiscal 2012 and net income of $207 million, or $0.84 per diluted share, in the first quarter of fiscal 2013. SanDisk Announces Construction of Second Phase of Next-Generation Fab 5

SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced that the construction of the phase two shell of the Fab 5 joint venture wafer fabrication facility located in Yokkaichi, Japan, will begin in August 2013 with expected completion in mid-2014.

SanDisk expects to use phase two of Fab 5 primarily for technology transitions of existing Yokkaichi wafer capacity. The new cleanroom will provide the space needed for additional equipment required for transitioning the wafer capacity in Fab 3, Fab 4 and phase one of Fab 5, to next generation 2D NAND technologies and to early generations of 3D NAND technology. SanDisk Shipping its Ultra Plus Solid State Drives

SanDisk is kicking off 2013 with the release of a new solid state drive, the Ultra Plus. This SSD has a 2.5-inch form factor (7 mm thickness) and features a Marvell controller, 19 nm MLC NAND memory, a SATA 6.0 Gbps interface, and a MTBF of 2 million hours.

The Ultra Plus is backed by a three-year warranty and comes in three capacities - 64 GB (520 / 155 MB/s sequential read/write speeds), 128 GB (530 / 290 MB/s) and 256 GB (530 / 445 MB/s). Amazon has SanDisk's SSDs priced at $120 (64 GB), $170 (128 GB) and $250 (256 GB).

SanDisk Expands Stock Repurchase Program

SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced that its Board of Directors has authorized an additional $750 million for common stock repurchases. This increases the total amount authorized for stock repurchases under the current program to $1.25 billion. The current repurchase program was established on Oct. 27, 2011 and will expire on Oct. 26, 2016. To date under this program, the company has used approximately $234 million for stock repurchases and approximately $1.016 billion remains available.

Under the expanded program, stock repurchases may be made from time to time and the actual amount expended will depend on a variety of factors including market conditions, regulatory and legal requirements, corporate cash generation and other factors. The stock repurchases may be made in both open market and privately negotiated transactions, and may include the use of derivative contracts, structured share repurchase agreements and Rule 10b5-1 trading plans. The program does not obligate SanDisk to repurchase any particular amount of common stock during any period and the program may be modified or suspended at any time at the company's discretion.

SanDisk Appoints Thomas Rampone as Senior Vice President for Its SSD Business

SanDisk Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced it has appointed Thomas Rampone as senior vice president of the company's solid state drive (SSD) business, which includes SanDisk's Enterprise Storage Solutions (ESS) and Client Storage Solutions (CSS) organizations. SanDisk Rolls Out Firmware Update R211 for Extreme Series SSD

SanDisk rolled out a firmware update for its Extreme Series high-performance client SSD. The new R211 firmware corrects outstanding bugs related to TRIM and garbage collection, speeds up drive initialization time at boot, and other minor errors. To begin with, the new firmware improves TRIM delay (delay between the SSD receiving TRIM command, and finding a convenient time to "take out the trash"), as a result TRIM and its related garbage disposal performance is greatly increased. The firmware also improves error handling and power management. Next, the new firmware reduces boot-time normalization of SMART attributes, reducing POST initialization time of the drives. Lastly, a minor bug related to temperature-reading is fixed. The update is recommended for users facing issues with SanDisk's fastest client SSDs. SanDisk Announces Third Quarter 2012 Financial Results

SanDisk Announces Development of CFast Memory Cards
