Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, today announced details about its upcoming Windows 8 mobile PC and All-In-One product lines. Building on its leadership position in the PC and tablet market, Samsung is bringing premium computing power, elegant design and an intuitive user experience to its PCs along with seamless convergence across devices, thanks to Samsung AllShare Play. In addition, Samsung offers a range of unique applications across devices including Samsung Quick Starter, and exclusive S Pen apps such as S Note and S Memo.

Samsung is working on a fleet of devices that take advantage of Microsoft's new Windows 8 operating system. These include touch-capable Ultrabooks, tablet hybrids, and all-in-one desktops. Samsung's Windows 8 Ultrabook lineup begins with Series 5 Ultra Touch. Starting at $809.99, these 13-inch Ultrabooks are powered by Core i3 "Ivy Bridge" dual-core processors (upgradable to Core i5 for $50 extra), 4 GB of RAM, 1366 x 768 pixels touchscreen display, and 500 GB HDD accelerated with 24 GB cache-SSD. It tips the scales at 1.73 kg. Samsung's second Ultrabook in the new lineup is the premium Series 9 Ultra Touch, starting at $1,300 for 13-inch and $1,400 for 15-inch.

Moving on, Samsung has two lines of Windows 8-loaded notebooks, starting with Series 3, which is available in a variety of hardware and screen size options, priced in the range of $450 to $900; and Series 7 15-inch notebook, which starts at $1,100. Samsung's new all-in-one lineup begins with Ativ SmartPC 500T and 700T, powered by Intel Atom Z2760 and Core i5, respectively, with memory ranging between 2 GB to 4 GB, featuring 64 GB to 128 GB SSD storage. The 500T starts at $649.99, while the 700T starts at 1,199.99. Samsung's mid-range all-in-one offering is the Series 5, which starts at $800, featuring a 21.5-inch HD screen. Its premium all-in-one PC offering is the Series 7, which starts at $1,100 for 23.6-inch and $1,700 for 27-inch variants. These devices will be launched closer to that of Windows 8, slated for October 26.

Additionally, Samsung today announced a new touchscreen version of its popular 13-inch Series 5 ULTRA laptop.

Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, today announced at IFA 2012 its new Series 7 and Series 5 All-In-One (AIO) PCs. Engineered to provide high-performance computing power in a sleek form factor, the new AIO PCs build on the premium qualities of Samsung's existing PC line. Each of the new models features a high-resolution, ten-point touch, slim bezel display on an elegant metal base, as well as a third generation Intel Core processor. The products are designed to run Windows 8, resulting in a PC that is just as powerful as it is eye-catching.

"Our new Series 7 and Series 5 All-In-One PCs are designed to meet a range of consumer needs across the home, all within highly stylized form factors that users will be proud to put on display," said Todd Bouman, vice president of product marketing at Samsung's Enterprise Business Division. "The expansion of our AIO line speaks to the success we've had in the PC market over the past year. Both of these new models take Samsung's convergence technologies to the next level, completing the home computing experience by connecting the PC to other devices in the home environment."

A little earlier, Samsung refreshed its Series 5 line of performance notebooks with Intel Core "Ivy Bridge" processors. It created a new branch, powered by AMD "Trinity" accelerated processing units (APUs), which pack up to four x86-64 cores, Radeon HD 7600M series graphics, and dual-channel DDR3 IMCs. Samsung currently has two models that are Trinity-powered, the Series 5 13.3-inch (NP535U3C-A01US), which is driven by AMD A6-4455M quad-core APU (2.10 GHz); and the Series 5 14-inch (NP535U4C-A01US), driven by AMD A10-4655M quad-core APU (2.80 GHz). Both models come with 4 or 8 GB dual-channel DDR3 memory and 500 or 750 GB HDD standard, with other features being identical to those of its Ivy Bridge cousins. The 13.3-inch A6 model starts at $699, while the 14-inch A10 model starts at $849.

Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, today announced two additions to its mobile PC line: the 15.6-inch Series 5 notebook and the 14-inch Series 5 500 notebook. Both products feature a 3rd generation Intel Core processor and top-of-the-line entertainment features, including JBL stereo speakers and NVIDIA GeForce Graphics. Additionally, Samsung announced that its Series 9, Series 5 and Series 3 models will feature Intel's new, more powerful processors.

"The power and speed of Intel's latest processors have enabled us to create even faster, more efficient laptops, and we're excited to have begun integrating them into these new models and several of our existing designs as well."

Microsoft Corp. today announced the return of its successful student offer that allows students buying a qualifying Windows 7-based PC to also get a free Xbox 360 4GB console. The offer is available for current students while supplies last, starting May 20 at participating retailers in the U.S.; a similar offer will be available starting May 18 at participating retailers in Canada. Terms and conditions will vary by participating retailer.

Together, a Windows 7-based PC and an Xbox 360 console provide students the functionality they need for school while also helping them stay connected to friends and family far away. To take advantage of this offer, students or their parents must provide valid student identification as defined by the participating retailer. Participating retailers may change over the course of the promotion, but will include Best Buy, Fry's Electronics, Dell.com, HPDirect.com, Microsoft Stores and NewEgg.com in the U.S., and Best Buy, Dell.ca, Future Shop, Staples and The Source in Canada.

Almost three months after their release, the Samsung Series 5 Ultrabooks are receiving an infusion of color in order to become more appealing to female and younger customers.

Announced in South Korea first, the Pop Pink and Mocca Brown versions of the Series 5 come in 13.3-inch and 14-inch sizes, and feature an Intel Core processor, up to 8GB of RAM, a 500 GB/1 TB hard drive or a 128 GB solid state drive, and 8 GB of ExpressCache memory, Intel HD or Radeon HD 7550M (on the 14-inch ultrabook) graphics, a webcam, D-Sub and HDMI outputs, and two USB 3.0 ports. No word yet about the international availability of the colored models.

Although they've only been officially launched in South Korea (Samsung's home market), the Series 5 ultrabooks have begun to pop up in US stores, for starters, only on pre-order. Both the 13.3-inch and 14-inch Series 5 models can be found listed, with the former bring priced at $899.99 and the latter at $949.99.

Both versions of Samsung's ultrabook run Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and feature an aluminum chassis, an LED-backlit display, a 1.6 GHz Core i5-2467M processor, 4 GB of RAM, Intel HD 3000 graphics, a 500 GB hard drive backed by 16 GB of flash storage, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 4-in-1 card reader, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, stereo speakers, and a 4-cell battery. The 14-inch Series 5 ultrabook also comes with a built-in DVD writer.

Today Samsung Electronics unveiled the Series 5 Ultra, a 'high-performance' ultrabook which will debut in South Korea at the end of this month and will probably (hopefully) reach other markets in early 2012.

This new mobile solution makes use of an aluminum chassis, comes in 13.3-inch and 14-inch versions (the 13-inch model is 14.9 mm thick, the 14-inch is 20.9 mm), and features a yet unnamed Intel processor, up to 8GB of RAM, a 500GB/1TB hard drive or a 128GB solid state drive, and 8GB of ExpressCache memory which ensures lower boot and access times (Samsung claims that its machine can come out of sleep mode in under 2 seconds). The 14-inch unit boasts a Radeon HD 7550M discrete graphics card and an optical drive while the 13.3-inch model has to settle for an integrated Intel GPU and no ODD.

The Series 5 Ultra also has WiFi, a webcam, two USB 3.0 ports, and both D-Sub and HDMI outputs. Pricing in Korea is said to range from about US $1,121 to US $1,339.
