Microsoft Announces Return of PC and Xbox 360 Offer for Students

Microsoft Corp. today announced the return of its successful student offer that allows students buying a qualifying Windows 7-based PC to also get a free Xbox 360 4GB console. The offer is available for current students while supplies last, starting May 20 at participating retailers in the U.S.; a similar offer will be available starting May 18 at participating retailers in Canada. Terms and conditions will vary by participating retailer.

Together, a Windows 7-based PC and an Xbox 360 console provide students the functionality they need for school while also helping them stay connected to friends and family far away. To take advantage of this offer, students or their parents must provide valid student identification as defined by the participating retailer. Participating retailers may change over the course of the promotion, but will include Best Buy, Fry's Electronics, Dell.com, HPDirect.com, Microsoft Stores and NewEgg.com in the U.S., and Best Buy, Dell.ca, Future Shop, Staples and The Source in Canada.

Windows 7-based PCs come in a wide variety of styles, sizes and colors; many new thin and light options such as the Dell XPS 13, HP ENVY15 and Samsung Series 5 ULTRA boast high-definition displays and fast boot-up times, and are super lightweight for great mobility. With an Xbox 360 console, students can have fun gaming while also enjoying a range of entertainment options, including streaming videos, sports, music and more.

Customers can check with participating retailers for more information about this offer.

Good timing. I need a new Xbox, and am thinking about getting a new Laptop and selling this one.

Unfortunately I don't know if there'll be a laptop out in time that'll fit quite to my liking for the price, but we'll see.

Lol... U.S & Canada. No love for the rest of the world then?? I love how multi-million/billion dollar companies and corporations announce a scheme like this and make it sound like theyve done something really amazing like found the cure for cancer but then shoot themselves in the foot by saying "But theres only enough for the board of directors..."

If i could toot microsoft's horn for them, Id fucking toot it, and id toot it all night and toot it all day till they get me a smaller toot to shut me the fuck up.

Either that or get security to bounce me, either one works though I must warn that i dont react well to getting manhandeld by burly henchmen.

I'd rather see if they'll do another $30 promotion like they did for Win7.

I'm wondering if this news story is legit. I've checked Newegg, Dell, and Best Buy, and there's no mention of it anywhere.

I am looking for mention of it as well but here is a link direct from Microsoft concerning it.

Edit: I did find this listed Best Buy's website as well and have my coupon printed out after signing up so I'm fairly happy with this lol thank you very much for this thread Btarunr

Interesting. I'd like to order my laptop online, but I can't see how to get the deal done with any of the stores mentioned. I guess I'll have to call.

There is a coupon that you have to print out for Best Buy to do it so I assume it would be something similar with other retailers.

HotobuFor anyone reading this who wants to do it just go to this link:

www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/html/pbpage.2012-pc-xbox-promo/pgm.77627100?Icid=Home_Rotating_3_Grad_PCXBOXOFFER

Apparently this is just for Microsoft's site though.

edit:

Buy any PC below for college

This isn't as good as last year's. Last year you could buy anything over $700. Now you have to select certain models.
For Best Buy at least it is any model over $700 so it must be up to the retailer to decide exactly how to implement this offer :ohwell:

That promotion was worth it. The current one a bit less so.
