A Pennsylvanian company called Copper Innovations Group has filed a lawsuit against Sony and Nintendo for the wireless technology used in their PS3 and Wii consoles respectively. The firm is arguing that the controllers infringe on a "Hand Held Computer Input Apparatus and Method" patent filed in 1996, which covers a method for connecting devices to a system and sorting their inputs by means of hardware identification numbers tied to each transmission. The devices in question are the Wii Remote, the Wii Nunchuk, the Sixaxis controller and the Blu-ray Remote. Copper Innovations is seeking damages plus interest, legal fees and an injunction prohibiting Sony and Nintendo from infringing on the patent.

After finally agreeing to return rumble to its PlayStation controllers following legal disputes, Sony has now announced the first PS3 console which will be released featuring the updated DualShock 3 technology. The white PS3 console, pictured below, will be launched in Japan on November 11th this year costing about $341, and is the first official colour variation of the machine. It will use the new 40GB hard drive, although DualShock 3 will only be available in Japan initially, with the console continuing to be sold with the standard SIXAXIS for at least a few months in Europe and North America - DualShock 3 isn't expected outside of Japan until spring next year.

Apple Inc. said Monday it sold its one millionth iPhone on Sunday, just 74 days after its introduction and ahead of its expectations to hit the mark by the end of September. The news came less than a week after CEO Steve Jobs apologized for cutting the price last week from $599 to $399, offering $100 credits to people who paid the higer price. Apple cut the price of its 8GB iPhone on Wednesday and said it would phase out the 4GB version, which sold for $499. The steep price cut annoyed many customers who purchased the phone early, though others saw it as the expected consequence of being an early adopter.

In an interview with Kikizo, Sony global president Kaz Hirai said that they are "obviously looking" at a variety of things that they could add to Sixaxis now that they've come to an agreement with Immersion. Hirai had this to say about the upcoming controller:
