NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Gets Custom 890 Watt XOC BIOS

Extreme overclocking is an enthusiast discipline where overclockers try to push their hardware to extreme limits. Combining powerful cooling solutions like liquid nitrogen (LN2), which reaches sub-zero temperatures alongside modified hardware, the silicon can output tremendous power. Today, we are witnessing a custom XOC (eXtreme OverClocking) BIOS for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card that can push the GA102 SKU to impressive 890 Watts of power, representing almost a two-fold increase to the stock TDP. Enthusiasts pursuing large frequencies with their RTX 3090 Ti are likely users of this XOC BIOS. However, most likely, we will see GALAX HOF or EVGA KINGPIN cards with dual 16-pin power connectors utilize this.

As shown below, MEGAsizeGPU, the creator of this BIOS, managed to push his ASUS GeForce RTX 3090 Ti TUF with XOC BIOS to 615 Watts, so KINGPIN and HOF designs will have to be used to draw all the possible heat. ASUS Intros TUF Gaming AX3000 V2 Gaming Router

ASUS today introduced the TUF Gaming AX3000 V2 wireless router. The Wi-Fi 6 router offers not just characteristic TUF Gaming product design, but also durability, in the way of multi-level heatsinks for the various hot components underneath, with a "nano-carbon coating." As a router, its specs are pretty mainstream—you get up to 2.4 Gbps in the 5 GHz band, up to 576 Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band (which add up to the "AX 3000" nameplate). The wired networking consists of a 2.5 GbE WAN port, and four 1 GbE LAN ports, from which two ports can be aggregated to a 2 Gbps link when paired with a machine that has two 1 GbE ports. You also get a 5 Gbps USB 3.x type-A port that can turn any USB mass-storage device into a network share, or be used to share a printer; and security in the way of the latest WPA3. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS RTX 3050 TUF Gaming its First TUF Gaming VGA with RGB Lighting

ASUS is giving final touches the to the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card. This is the company's first TUF Gaming product based on the RTX 3050, which was, until now, given the ASUS ROG Strix and DUAL OC custom treatment. What's more interesting is its cooling solution, which appears to be the first TUF Gaming graphics card with RGB LED lighting—a change from the functional, industrial look of TUF Gaming graphics cards.

This is also the smallest iteration of the TUF Gaming cooling solution the company debuted with the RTX 30-series "Ampere," and features a dual-fan setup (compared to triple-fan on every other TUF Gaming product from this generation). The card comes with a strip of RGB LEDs lined along the top of the card, at the edge of the backplate. It's being reported that this RTX 3050 card is based on the smaller "GA107" silicon, instead of "GA106," and hence comes with a lower typical board power than GA106-based RTX 3050 cards, with no difference in performance.

ASUS Announces NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Graphics Cards

ASUS today announced the ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics cards, arriving in Standard and OC editions. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti features a record-breaking 10,752 CUDA cores, 78 RT-TFLOPs, 40 Shader-TFLOPs and 320 Tensor-TFLOPs of power.

The ROG Strix LC GeForce RTX 3090 Ti includes a closed-loop liquid cooling system that keeps temperatures and noise levels under control. Featuring a custom-designed cold plate that extends over the GPU die and the onboard GDDR6X memory and 560 mm tubing, consumers will have flexibility installing the radiator in larger cases or builds that also feature an AIO CPU cooler. The 240 mm radiator on the GPU is cooled by a pair of 120 mm ARGB fans designed to improve airflow at high static pressure. A blower-style fan and a low-profile heatsink under the shroud expel the heat produced by the power delivery components, all in a slim 2.6-slot design.

AMD Radeon 680M (Ryzen 6000 "Rembrandt" iGPU) Proves its Mettle with Cyberpunk 2077

The Radeon 680M integrated graphics powering the AMD Ryzen 6000-series mobile processors is proving to be an entry-level discrete-GPU killer. TechEpiphany posted a video presentation showing the iGPU's real-world gameplay performance with the AAA title "Cyberpunk 2077" at Full HD (1080p), with a little help from FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). TechEpiphany used an ASUS TUF GAMING F17 notebook powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H "Rembrandt" processor that has the full Radeon 680M iGPU unlocked, with all its 12 RDNA2 compute units (768 stream processors), 12 Ray Accelerators, 16 ROPs, and 48 TMUs, enabled. The notebook also features a GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU, but for this testing, it was disabled.

The first part of the video shows the game running at 1080p and Medium-High settings, with FSR set at Ultra Quality. Here, the iGPU is managing 30-40 FPS. Real-time ray tracing is disabled. In the second part, they enabled ray tracing and FidelityFX Super Resolution, but this is where the iGPU runs out of steam. Frame-rates drop to unplayable levels, but there still aren't any noticeable visual artifacts or rendering errors typically associated with iGPUs made to render games above their pay-grade. It's still impressive to see that AMD following through on its promise of bringing 1080p gaming across a broader range of titles. ASUS Shows Off TUF Gaming Capture Box FHD120

ASUS seems to want a bigger slice of the game streaming market, as it was showing off its second such product during CES, in the shape of the TUF Gaming Capture Box FHD120. This should be a cheaper variant of its previously launched TUF Gaming Video Capture Box CU4K30, as it lacks 4K and even 1440p capabilities, but this is unlikely to be a problem for most gamers that would be using it to stream their gaming sessions. It does at least support 120 Hz recording, or 120 FPS if you prefer, which still puts it ahead of much of the competition, assuming it'll be competitively priced.

ASUS changed the design quite a bit compared to the CU4K30 and the FHD120 is more squared off, but with protruding bits in the corners. The LEDs have also been moved to the TUF logo on the top of the device, rather than being a light bar at the front of the device. Connectivity appears to be nigh on identical, with both devices sporting a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports, although the FHD120 doesn't appear to support more than 60 FPS passthrough above 1080p. Both devices also have one USB-C 3.2 gen 1x1 port, aka USB 3.0 at 5 Gbps, as well as a combo headset jack and a separate combo jack that can be connected to a gamepad. You obviously still need a PC to do the video compression, as the video is sent uncompressed from the FHD120 to the computer. No word on pricing, but the CU4K30 has an MSRP of US$210, so we're expecting a US$150-175 MSRP range if ASUS intends to be competitive.

ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Box Pictured

It looks like GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is indeed the name of the maxed out "Ampere" GA102 silicon, and NVIDIA did not go with "RTX 3090 SUPER" for its naming. A picture emerged of an ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090 Ti graphics card that confirms the naming. The board design of the card looks similar to the RTX 3090 TUF Gaming, except that the Axial-Tech fans have changed, with more blades on the impellers.

The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is expected to max out the GA102 silicon, featuring all 10,752 CUDA cores, 84 RT cores, and 336 Tensor cores, physically present on the silicon. The memory size is unchanged over the RTX 3090, with 24 GB of GDDR6X memory. What's new is that NVIDIA is reportedly using faster 21 Gbps-rated memory chips, compared to 19.5 Gbps on the RTX 3090. The typical board power is rated at 450 W, compared to 350 W on the RTX 3090. NVIDIA is expected to announce this card at its January 4 press event along the sidelines of the 2022 International CES.

ASUS Intros TUF Gaming VG30VQL1A Curved Ultrawide Gaming Monitor

ASUS today rolled out the TUF Gaming VG30VQL1A, a curved ultrawide gaming monitor that's closely related to the VG28UQL1A the company released in August 2021. As its name suggests, this one is a 30-inch. It comes with some impressive specs, including a 1500R curvature, 2560 x 1080 pixels native resolution, 1 ms MPRT response time, 200 Hz refresh-rate, ELMB, AMD FreeSync Premium, and HDR10, covering 127% of the sRGB palette. It uses a VA panel, and its other specs include 300 cd/m² maximum brightness, 3000:1 static contrast-ratio, and flicker-free brightness adjustments. Display inputs include two HDMI 2.0 ports, and a DisplayPort 1.2a. A 2-port USB 3.0 hub makes for the rest of it. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS Z690 Motherboards Listed by Canadian Retailer

Intel is set to launch their 12th Generation Alder Lake desktop processors on November 4th alongside the new Z690 chipset supporting DDR5 and PCIe 5.0. We have recently seen the first of these new Z690 motherboards from ASUS being listed for sale by PC Canada. The listings include TUF, ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, and Prime motherboards but we don't see any mention of Apex or Extreme boards so they may not be available at launch. The models all appear to retail for less than their Z590 counterparts except for some of the Prime series models which will come as a pleasant surprise to many. We are also aware that the VRM design for these boards will receive various upgrades according to a recent report from @Komachi. The Z690 Hero is set to feature a 20+1 phase design with 90 A Power Stages while the lower-end boards will get a 14+1 design.

Even As Graphics Card Prices Skyrocket, Build Quality on the Decline?

So you finally fork out four-figures for a performance-segment graphics card that had a $350 predecessor a couple of generations ago, and what do you find? Misaligned thermal pads, poorly installed cooling, and other build quality flaws. Reddit and other social media platforms show a noticeable increase in people with fairly premium graphics cards that have manufacturing defects that can lower the product life. One such user, kamaloo92, posted pictures of an ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti OC with a missing block of thermal pads over a row of memory chips. GDDR6X chips are capable of heating in the high-90s Celsius, and a poorly cooled block of memory can cause artifacting in the long run. This, from a company that prides itself in its manufacturing standards.

Another horror story comes from obamaprism3, who posted pictures of an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Founders Edition with a poorly installed memory thermal pad that was so placed so far off, that it overlapped with the cooler's main base, posing severe risk of overheating and performance loss to the GPU. Staying with Founders Edition, a user named antonyjeweet discovered a worker's finger cot stuck under a memory thermal pad of their insanely expensive RTX 3090 Founders Edition card. ASUS Announces TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A Monitor

ASUS today announced the availability of TUF Gaming VG28UQL1A, a gaming monitor designed for PC and next-generation consoles. This 28 inch display has a Fast IPS panel and supports up to 4K 144 Hz gaming with a 1 ms gray to gray (GTG) response time as well as Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology, and it offers native 4K 120 Hz gaming without chroma subsampling on the latest consoles via HDMI 2.1. Compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC, it also supports AMD FreeSync Premium and ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync (ELMB Sync) to eliminate smearing and motion blur for fluid and responsive gameplay. In addition, ASUS Variable Overdrive technology ensures consistently smooth visuals at variable frame rates.

TUF VG28UQL1A has an HDMI 2.1 port that enables native 4K 120 Hz visuals (4:4:4) when playing on the latest gaming consoles. An Auto-Low-Latency mode helps reduce input lag to ensure extremely fluid gameplay, and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology prevents tearing and stuttering for a completely immersive next-gen console gaming experience. In addition, a DisplayPort 1.4 connection offers stable 144 Hz visuals, with DSC technology handling ultra high-definition video streams at high speeds so there's no perceptible loss in image quality when gaming on PC.

ASUS TUF Gaming Introduces the VG32AQL1A Monitor: 32" Fast IPS, QHD, 170 Hz, DisplayHDR 400

ASUS today via its TUF Gaming brand introduced the VG32AQL1A monitor, which is sure to tick a lot of boxes for many people looking for a gaming monitor. The 32" diagonal may put some off due to the typical distance users sit away from the monitor. The 2560 x 1440 Fast IPS panel features a 1 ms response time and 170 Hz refresh rate - as well as support for FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA's G-Sync Compatible program. In addition to the fast response time and refresh rates, the ASUS TUF Gaming VG32AQL1A also features ELMB sync (for black frame insertion and motion blur reduction) as well as a smart, "variable overdrive" setting that dynamically changes monitor overdrive values according to the current frame rate so as to further reduce motion blur.

Typical brightness is set at a standard 300 cd/m², with peak brightness achieving the 400 cd/m² that enables this monitor to boast of VESA's Display HDR 400 certification. EK Launches Quantum Vector TUF RX 3070 Water Block

EK, is ready to offer its premium high-performance GPU water block for ASUS TUF editions of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series graphics cards. This new water block is named EK-Quantum Vector TUF RTX 3070 D-RGB and is exclusively engineered for ASUS TUF RTX 3070 GPUs. This water block is 255 mm long and 149 mm tall and cools all key components on the GPU's printed circuit board. The EK-Quantum Vector TUF RTX 3070 is compatible with ASUS TUF RTX 3070 graphics cards. This Vector water block actively cools the GPU, top-facing VRAM, power stages, and chokes in the VRM section. The newly developed TUF water blocks feature clean, optimized flow paths that reduce hydrodynamic instabilities and vortexing (dead spots) inside of them.

An Open Split-Flow cooling engine design is implemented, which proved to be a superior solution for GPU water blocks. It is characterized by low hydraulic flow restriction, meaning it can be used with weaker water pumps or pumps running on low-speed settings, and still achieve top performance. The jet plate and fin structure geometry have been optimized to provide even flow distribution with minimal losses and optimal performance when used in any given coolant flow orientation, unlike some products that are currently available on the market.

ASUS Announces GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti ROG Strix (LC) and TUF Graphics Cards

ASUS Rolls Out TUF Gaming Capture Box CU4K30

ASUS today rolled out the TUF Gaming Capture Box CU4K30, a game-streaming capture box for HDMI. The box lets you plug in your HDMI source (PC or console), which plugs out to an HDMI monitor or TV. You can use audio from the HDMI source, or connect stereo 3.5 mm analog. The box connects back to your PC via 5 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 1, through a type-C port (type-A to type-C adapter included).

The TUF Gaming CU4K30 allows recording or streaming at resolutions of up to 4K at 30 FPS, 1440p at 60 FPS, and 1080p up to 120 FPS; while the passthrough supports 4K up to 60 Hz, 1440p up to 120 Hz, and 1080p up to 240 Hz. The box is OBS Studio certified. It also features an ARGB LED diffuser along the front face, which can be controlled via Aura Sync. The company didn't reveal pricing.

ASUS Launches Custom Design Radeon RX 6700 XT Graphics Cards

ASUS today launched a trio of custom-design AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics cards. These include the RX 6700 XT DUAL, the TUF Gaming RX 6700 XT OC, and the top-of-the-line ROG Strix RX 6700 XT O12G. All three a factory-overclocked cards, and while the company didn't disclose the clock-speeds, one can make out how the three stack up—the ROG Strix at the top, the TUF Gaming OC next, followed by the DUAL. The company will also sell reference-design RX 6700 XT cards. The ROG Strix RX 6700 XT O12G leads the pack with its latest-gen DirectCU III cooling solution that's featured across its custom RX 6000 and RTX 30-series lineup; which features a large aluminium fin-stack heatsink, a trio of the latest-gen Axial-Tech fans, a blinding amount of RGB bling, and the strongest VRM setup among the three, which pulls power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors, and other goodies such as dual-BIOS, RGB and case fan headers.

The TUF Gaming RX 6700 XT OC is next up, along with its acclaimed TUF Gaming cooling solution that exposes much of its heatsink's bare-metal, through an airy metal shroud; and uses a trio of Axial-Tech fans. This card pulls power from two 8-pin PCIe connectors, much like the ROG Strix, but is expected to have a slightly downsized VRM, and lower factory-overclocked speeds. You still get dual-BIOS. Lastly, there's the RX 6700 XT DUAL, slotted in the company's sober-looking PRIME family of motherboards and graphics cards. It features a more compact board design, with a lighter aluminium fin-stack heatsink that uses only a pair of Axial-Tech fans. This card pulls power from 6-pin + 8-pin connectors. All three are expected to launch on March 18, 2021.

ASUS Radeon RX 6700 XT DUAL and TUF Gaming Pictured

Here are some of the first pictures of custom-design AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics cards, in the form of the ASUS Radeon RX 6700 XT DUAL, and the TUF Gaming Radeon RX 6700 XT OC. Both cards feature 12 GB of memory, and use ASUS's latest generation of Prime Series DUAL and TUF Gaming board designs. The Radeon RX 6700 series is expected to compete with NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3060-series "Ampere" graphics card in the high-volume "sweetspot" segment. The ASUS DUAL card is a lot larger than it looks, measuring a little over 29 cm in length, and using a pair of 100 mm Axial-Tech fans to ventilate a large heatsink underneath; while the TUF Gaming OC is about as large as any of the other TUF Gaming cards from this generation. AMD is expected to announce the RX 6700 series at an online event, on March 3, 2021.

ASUS Unveils GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER ZAKU II EDITION Graphics Card

ASUS has been super hyped-up about the popular Japanese military science fiction media franchise/media mix called GUNDAM, where the company has developed multiple products based on the series. Starting with the all-white GUNDAM GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards to the latest edition of ASUS TUF Gaming X3 GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER ZAKU II EDITION graphics card, ASUS seems to be loving the fiction universe of GUNDAM. The latest GTX 1660 SUPER graphics card is a factory overclocked design with a slight improvement to the boost speed. The GPU will boost up to 1830 MHz, representing a mere 2.5% improvement. The rest of the specifications match the reference GTX 1660 SUPER design with 1408 CUDA cores and 6 GB of GDDR6 14 Gbps memory.

However, the main appealing and marketing thing about this card is not its overclocking speeds, but rather its aesthetics. It features Char's MS-06S ZAKU II Mobile Suit color scheme, which is a red colorway. It comes in a 2.7 slot body with a triple-fan cooling system, and a special red backplate with some stylish character animation.

ASUS Z590 ROG Maximus XIII, TUF, & PRIME Motherboards Pictured

A number of upcoming Z590 ASUS motherboards have recently been pictured. The four upcoming motherboards include the ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Glacial, ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Hero, ASUS Prime Z590-A, and the ASUS TUF Z590-PLUS WIFI. These new motherboards feature an LGA1200 socket the same one found on existing Z490 boards and are targeted towards Intel's upcoming 11th generation processors. The new Rocket Lake-S processors will introduce support for PCIe 4.0 which should be fully supported on these new boards.

The Z590 MAXIMUS XIII EXTREME GLACIAL is a high-end premium motherboard with integrated monoblock from EK. The board is similar to the Z490 GUNDAM and comes in an E-ATX form factor. The 13th edition ASUS ROG Maximus XIII Hero includes dual EATX12V 8-pin power connectors an upgrade from the 8+4 pin configuration found on the Z490 series. These new motherboards are expected to be announced in the coming days during CES.

NVIDIA Readies GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra: 12GB, ASUS TUF OC Pictured

NVIDIA is reportedly preparing a new GeForce RTX 30-series SKU positioned around the RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 3070, as the company looks to fine-tune its lineup against the Radeon RX 6700 series. Called the GeForce RTX 3060 Ultra, the SKU is reportedly carved out from the same 8 nm "GA104" silicon as the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070; but with a different core-configuration, and 12 GB of GDDR6 memory. At this point, it is not known if the memory bus width is narrowed to 192-bit, or if the same 256-bit wide memory bus is used (with mixed memory chip density). WCCFTech posted a picture of the first custom-design RTX 3060 Ultra card, an ASUS TUF Gaming product, which it reports to be faster than the RTX 3060 Ti. The publication also reports the card's MSRP pricing to be USD $449.

In addition to the RT-AX68U router, ASUS today rolled out the TUF Gaming VG289Q1A gaming monitor. This 28-inch flatscreen monitor features 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution which it puts out using an IPS panel. The panel offers 178° viewing angles, 90% DCI-P3 coverage, HDR10, 10-bpc color (1.07 billion colors), 60 Hz refresh-rate, and 5 ms response time. Other panel specs include 350 cd/m² maximum brightness, 1000:1 static contrast ratio; and VESA Adaptive Sync. Display inputs include a DisplayPort 1.2, and two HDMI 2.0. The company didn't reveal pricing.

That is why the company says that "The TUF GAMING Radeon RX 6900 XT is a tenacious beast with a tough metal exterior, super-efficient cooling, and components that offer enhanced endurance." The built-in cooler offers 0dB cooler technology, meaning that fans will not spin unless the GPU reaches 55 degrees C temperature. The card is powered by two eight-pin connectors, so it seems that power supply requirements are not changed compared to the reference card. While the exact specifications are not known, you can expect the card to boost over the standard 2250 MHz frequency, as it is factory overclocked. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Confirmed, Beats RTX 2080 SUPER

It looks like NVIDIA will launch its 4th GeForce RTX 30-series product ahead of Holiday 2020, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, with VideoCardz unearthing a leaked NVIDIA performance guidance slide, as well as pictures of custom-design RTX 3060 Ti cards surfacing on social media. The RTX 3060 Ti is reportedly based on the same 8 nm "GA104" silicon as the RTX 3070, but cut down further. It features 38 out of 48 streaming multiprocessors physically present on the "GA104," amounting to 4,864 "Ampere" CUDA cores, 152 tensor cores, and 38 "Ampere" RT cores. The memory configuration is unchanged from the RTX 3070, which means you get 8 GB of 14 Gbps GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit wide memory interface, with 448 GB/s of memory bandwidth.

According to a leaked NVIDIA performance guidance slide for the RTX 3060 Ti, the company claims the card to consistently beat the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, a $700 high-end SKU from the previous "Turing" generation. The same slide also shows a roughly 40% performance gain over the previous generation RTX 2060 SUPER, which is probably the logical predecessor for this card. In related news, PC Master Race (OfficialPCMR) on its Facebook page posted pictures of boxes of an ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3060 Ti OC graphics cards, which confirms the existence of this SKU. The picture of the card on the box reveals a design similar to other TUF Gaming RTX 30-series cards launched by ASUS so far. As for price, VideoCardz predicts a $399 MSRP for the SKU, which should nearly double the price-performance for this card over the RTX 2080 SUPER at NVIDIA's performance numbers.
