Nightdive Studios CEO Discusses Remastering of System Shock 2

If Nightdive Studios were a home, it would be built upon the foundation of System Shock. As one of the studio's formative projects, the Kickstarter campaign for its acclaimed System Shock remake put Nightdive on the map. But it wasn't System Shock that inspired Nightdive's creation, rather its sequel, System Shock 2. With the recently announced June 26, 2025, release date for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster fast approaching, some have wondered: why a remaster instead of a full remake? To answer this, let's look back at Nightdive's origins, remasters as a form of preservation, and the many enhancements that make System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster a worthy tribute to a beloved classic!

Where It All Began
"Like many others, my first experience with System Shock was the sequel," begins Nightdive Founder and CEO Stephen Kick, who recounts being introduced to the game while eating lunch with his friends at school. After sharing how much he loved Half-Life, his friend Marshall suggested giving System Shock 2 a try. "The next day, he came back to the table and handed me the Big Box. That night, I installed the game and was instantly captivated. Every aspect of it congealed into an unforgettably immersive experience that still gives me chills every time I think about it."

AMD's Reference Radeon RX 9070 XT "Made by AMD" Pictured in China

AMD is not releasing any "Made by AMD" (MBA) reference designs of its latest Radeon RX 9070 XT GPUs based on the RDNA 4 IP. However, leakers in China managed to get ahold of what appears to be an MBA Radeon RX 9070 XT design, assumingly being used as a prototype. While there are custom designs by AMD's AIB partners, AMD itself hasn't released the reference design to the public. The latest leak from Chinese forums confirms that this GPU actually exists beyond the standard press renders/mockups, meaning that someone can get their hands on it. The seller is offering a brand-new reference edition of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT with a warranty for one year, with the second year requiring self-paid repairs. They specify no disassembly and no damage to the unit.

The standard price is set at 5000 RMB, with a preference for local pickup. For buyers outside the city, shipping via SF Express is available with insurance, requiring a payment of at least 5800 RMB. The physical card matches the previously leaked render with its three-fan design, though with a notable color difference. Instead of the expected gray finish, the actual unit features a complete black design. Currently sealed in an antistatic bag, the card appears unused. The asking price of approximately $800 initially seems high but aligns with current market rates for custom versions. The listing has already disappeared, suggesting someone has already snagged this rare prototype. With serial codes visible, AMD can potentially trace the person who put it up for sales, so its not a good outlook for anyone that wanted to sell it.

GALAX GeForce RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB Edition PCB Revealed, Features 38-Power Phase Design

A formerly dormant member of China's Chiphell discussion board has resurfaced with a major GALAX leak; they claimed ownership of a pre-release GeForce RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB edition graphics card. The Hong Kong-based AIB did not update its "Hall of Fame" series with flagship NVIDIA "Blackwell" GPU silicon in time for last month's launch. Their highest-end offering arrived in the form of a GeForce RTX 5080 HOF OC LAB Plus-X SKU; reportedly an over-specced juggernaut. According to the latest reports, GALAX's top GeForce RTX 5090D candidate is in the pipeline—early details indicate an impressive feature set. The manufacturer is well known for its selective methodology; GPU industry watchdogs believe that the incoming flagship utilizes only the very best pre-binned GB202 GPU dies and GDDR7 memory modules.

Despite a fitting of elite-tier parts, the lucky owner reported issues with their allegedly sanction box-ticking card: "this time the overclocking was more troublesome. The bracket and backplate of the graphics card gun had to be remade. Finally, it was done. I won't say more. I'm going to fill it with liquid nitrogen." VideoCardz believes that GALAX has sent preview samples to local overclocking specialists, minus finalized air-cooled solution attachments. As disclosed by the Chiphell member
(laoshu1919), early evaluators appear to be experimenting with liquid cooling. A photo of GALAX's GeForce RTX 5090D HOF OC LAB PCB design was shared on the forum; showing a grand total of 38 high-quality power phases. The GPU die is surrounded by 26 of these units, while 10 are positioned closer to the card's VRAM. Another 2 are located nearby to a single 16-pin power connector, with enough extra room to accommodate two more. Judging from laoshu1919's photo, this prototype seems capable of hosting another 16-pin power connector. The sample's I/O bracket likely sports GALAX's signature "1-Click OC" button.

Razer Intros Viper V3 Pro Faker Edition

Lee "Faker" Sang-Hyeok's name transcends League of Legends. Over a storied 12-year career, he has amassed five World Championship titles (2013, 2015, 2016, 2023, 2024), ten LCK championships, and two Mid-Season Invitational trophies - a feat accomplished by no other. From the moment a devoted fan gifted him his very first Razer DeathAdder, Faker's journey and Razer's commitment to esports performance became deeply intertwined. In a bold move before Worlds, Faker switched to the Razer Viper V3 Pro and stormed to yet another World Championship victory.

Apple Mac mini Goes Retro: ColorWare Intros Custom Mac mini With $300 Premium

The M4 Mac Mini is quite certainly a delightful little computer. Powered by Apple's widely praised M4 SoC, the 0.8-liter mini PC punches well above its weight class in both CPU and GPU benchmarks. However, for those of us who are obsessed with retro tech but still desire modern-age performance, ColorWare has introduced a limited-edition Mac mini with a customized enclosure that looks straight of the 1970s, joining the extensive list of custom Apple products, including Apple Pencil and AirPods, that the company sells at a premium.

Unsuprisingly, the internals of the Mac mini remains unchanged. ColorWare has three versions on offer, ranging from the base M4 variant with 16 GB memory and 256 GB storage, all the way to the high-end M4 Pro-equipped variant, with 24 GB memory and twice the storage. The exterior, of course, is where all the customization takes place. The Mac mini Retro is available in two colorways: Retro Light, and Retro Dark. The latter is basically black, while the former utilizes a beige theme. The Apple logo at the top of the system has been replaced with Apple's colorful logo from the tech giant's early days in the 70s, and the sides have been customized to sport CNC-milled "vents" that mimic Macs from the era, such as the Apple II.

Honkai: Star Rail-themed MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X Special Edition Gets Leaked

An MSI "Ruan Mei" special edition GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X model has been teased by hongxing2020 on social media—it is not clear whether this is an intentional leak, given the formal office setting photographed in the background. Seemingly finalized retail packaging, heavily updated shroud plus backplate designs, and bundled poster and mousepad merchandise are emblazoned with a 5-star rated Honkai: Star Rail character. As noted by VideoCardz, the web link displayed on MSI's accompanying poster would indicate that the special green and gold special SUPRIM X model is destined for the Chinese PC hardware market—where miHoYo's Honkai games franchise is super popular.

The MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X "Ruan Mei" special edition's packaging does not make a distinction between the onboard GPU being a US sanction-compliant NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 D variant, or the original + uncompromised AD102-300-A1. Perhaps it is safe to assume that a first quarter 2024 launch model will sport ever so slightly downgraded internals—MSI has already prepared their standard silver range-topping GeForce RTX 4090 D SUPRIM X model for the region. A small batch of Ruan Mei limited editions could arrive at a later date, once the the standard card has cleared the way.
