1MORE Dual Driver In-ears Review

Value & Conclusion »

Performance

1MORE is a brand that has always tuned their in-ears with a lot of bass and sub-bass. The Dual Driver does not deviate from this, which is great news for the majority of listeners who primarily listen to modern music.

Bass is very fit dependent and here, the Dual Driver design is nearly perfect in my ears. The angle of the sound tube and length is just enough to enable the silicone tips to touch the outmost part of the ear canal. The shallow insertion depth makes them really comfortable to wear even for extended periods of time, just like the Triple Driver in-ears.

Just like with the Triple Driver, we found that you can wear the Dual Driver for very long periods with minimal discomfort. Both the tuning and design makes it brilliant for long commutes in noisy environments where comfort outranks sound quality.

The midrange is pretty detailed, although a bit pushed back in the mix. The boost in the low end is pretty confined, but you do notice some masking going on in the lower midrange. The midrange itself is quite balanced and without too many oddities. Once you go into the upper midrange, you do lack a little presence compared to flatter-tuned in-ears, but the Dual Driver still manages to sound engaging enough.

From 2 kHz up, it could use a touch more, but on the other hand, the dialed back treble is also what makes it so easy to listen to for long periods at a time. The Dual Driver has a borderline dull treble, but it is quite well controlled with no crazy dips or peaks, which means the imaging is still largely intact in most music. Also, the 3 kHz peak seems less dominant than on the Triple Driver in-ears, which perhaps accounts for the noticeable difference in the upper midrange between the two. Overall, there is very little to point a finger at in the treble region as it works well on most music, although some pieces with weird harmonics come out slightly off.
