The 1MORE True Wireless ANC headphones are built around the Qualcomm QCC3034 CSR Bluetooth 5.0 chip. It offers SBC, AAC, and aptX Bluetooth audio codec support, and also supports the Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus technology, which you can utilize if your smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 845 or newer. TrueWireless Stereo Plus changes the way your smartphone communicates with TWS headphones, such as the 1MORE True Wireless ANC. Instead of only talking with the "master" earpiece, which also talks to the "slave" earpiece through a separate connection, the phone communicates with both earpieces simultaneously, which results in lower power consumption of around 10%, reduced latency, and simplified wireless pairing. I tested them with two different Android smartphones based on the Snapdragon 835 and 845 and they behaved similarly in both cases, without any connectivity issues or noticeable lag even when watching video and playing mobile games.
As for the built-in speaker drivers, 1MORE went with a 10-millimeter titanium dynamic driver and a balanced armature per earpiece. As per usual, the speaker drivers were tuned by Luca Bignardi, a Grammy-winning sound engineer 1MORE regularly collaborates with. The sound performance of the 1MORE True Wireless ANC greatly varies based on its active operating mode. In this section of the review, I'll focus on how they sound when both ANC and Pass-through are turned off—when you're using them as regular wireless headphones without utilizing their microphones to hear your surroundings better and no active noise canceling. For most users, myself included, this is how the headphones will be used most of the time.
Here are a couple of select words that nicely describe their sound: lively, energetic, meaty, full, and detailed. To put it simply, these are the best-sounding TWS headphones I have ever tried, and I say that after going through most of the heavy hitters on the market, such as the Sony WF-1000XM3 or Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless. 1MORE struck a fantastic balance between their sound being exceptionally detailed and wonderfully flowy, musical. You get a ton of information in the upper mid and high-range without any of the shrillness or excessive sparkle. You get a rich, powerful, multilayered bass without the slightest hint of coloration and spillage into the vocal range. The vocals sound wonderfully natural, almost tangible, partially because these headphones let you hear various subtle details that otherwise go unnoticed, such as vocalists smacking lips and taking breaths. I can't name a single music genre the 1MORE True Wireless ANC TWS headphones do not handle admirably. Thanks to their versatility, they'd be incredibly easy to recommend to anyone after the best possible sound quality in the world of TWS headphones even if they didn't have any other qualities, which they certainly do.
To experience all that sonic goodness, make sure you don't skip one essential step: experimenting with all seven pairs of provided silicone ear tips. As with any other in-ear headphones, getting a proper seal is essential to making these sound their best. You want the ear tips to fully seal your ear canals without causing any discomfort. If that means you won't use the same ear tip size on the left and right ear, so be it. A loose fit will completely ruin the powerful bass and potentially cause problems with the earpieces falling out and getting lost.
Sound Quality with ANC
If there's one area that could use more work, it's the way these headphones sound once you turn ANC on. The ANC itself is quite good, completely on par with the ANC Sony offers on the WF-1000XM3. However, the bass becomes extremely boosted and loses almost all of its refinement and detail. The lower mid-range also loses its naturality as it is replaced with something that sounds overengineered and artificial. These negative changes to the sound performance are a bit less pronounced when the weaker "Mode 2 ANC" is used over the stronger "Mode 1 ANC", but that still doesn't change the fact that the sound performance of the 1MORE True Wireless ANC doesn't come anywhere close to its full potential until you turn ANC off.
On the upside, 1MORE is aware of this issue and intends to readjust the sound of their headphones when ANC is turned on with an upcoming firmware release.
