Cooler

The HD 5870 has a long, full-coverage cooler with a backplate. The cooler sports a racy design colored in black and red. There is a copper-infused GPU contact block, and a plate that covers all other areas, including memory and VRM. A backplate cools components on the reverse side of the PCB, which particularly finds utility in the 2 GB variant where memory chips are also found there. It gives the card a distinct "product-feel".
