ASRock DeskMini GTX1060 (Z370) Review

Bundled Software

The ASRock DeskMini GTX 1060 comes with a software package that is as minimalist and functional as it's aesthetically pleasing to look at. The support DVD is split into three categories, as is pretty much the norm. The drivers tab is, as expected, inclusive, and contains everything you need except a GPU driver. The last tab contains all the manuals, guides, and the board's general information. The second tab, containing the software offerings, is refreshingly brief, containing only two items.

The first of these is "Boot to UEFI", an extremely straightforward app that lets you boot straight into the ASRock DeskMini GTX 1060 BIOS, either immediately or upon the next restart. The second is "RGB LED", a simple but comprehensive controller for the single RGB LED header on the ASRock DeskMini GTX 1060 motherboard. No LED strip is included with the ASRock DeskMini GTX 1060, and while I understand RGB control is all the rage these days, I think adding flash would only serve to counter the ASRock DeskMini GTX 1060 aesthetic.

The ASRock DeskMini GTX 1060 has a surprisingly fleshed out BIOS considering its limited feature set, though the masterstroke of this BIOS isn't actually IN the BIOS. ASRock saw fit to include a full and thorough walkthrough of each and every BIOS page and feature within the PDF version of the ASRock DeskMini GTX 1060 manual, which is included on the support DVD. This move goes above and beyond what would be expected and earns ASRock serious respect from me, and many of their core customer base, I would expect.
