BIOS Walkthrough

Inside the bios, the first thing that greets us upon entering is the “Extreme Tweaker” page. ASUS isn't going to waste your time with the main page seen on their other boards, that's not what this board is all about.

Every setting you need is within quick reach, including a tweak to overcome the dreaded "coldbug" found when running extreme sub-zero temps. Although many will have no use for such a feature, its existence really highlights the abilities this board has when it comes to extreme overclocking.

Experienced Socket 1156 overclockers will feel right at home with the voltage control features in this BIOS, every voltage is available, including DIMM reference voltages - and each setting offers a larger range than is ever necessary.

At the very bottom of the “Extreme Tweaker” page is access to an area labelled "OC Profile", where you can save eight different overclocking profiles, for easy reference should things go south when pushing for more. Find a stable setting, save it, and never have the need to write things down the old way, with pen and paper.

The DRAM timing control heading contains the majority of options any user will need, in a format that should be familiar to anyone who has spent some time with any of ASUS's other recent boards. Trying to get 8 GB in 4 sticks stable @ 2000 MHz, and need to tweak a critical timing to be able to boot when another board cannot? Look no further.

ASUS has included options in the BIOS for everything you need. I had no problems navigating the screens, and every main heading has sub-menus under it that clearly indicate where everything is located. Having the voltage/frequency tweaking section the first thing you see is something I myself readily welcome. Enough of all that though, let us put this BIOS to use.
