The ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO comes with a couple now standard software utilities: MemTweakIt for memory timings and ROG GAMEFirst for network traffic prioritization.


New with Intel Z87 is ROG RAMDisk, whose name clearly explains its function, and there is also a tool to help you get into the BIOS on the next boot if you have Windows8's FastBoot options enabled.


The ASUS TurboV software has been updated and skinned for ROG formatting. It now also offers access to the Fan Xpert2 utility for fan speed adjustments.

ASUS has had one of the most robust software suites for some time now, and its centralized nature is now broken apart again with many of the new stand-alone tools. I personally prefer having all such utilities rolled into one large package, but what ASUS offers with the MAXIMUS VI HERO works really well just the same.
