Red Dead Redemption 2 is the latest chapter in the hit open-world RPG franchise from the makers of Grand Theft Auto. A prequel to the original Read Dead Redemption, RDR2 is set in a classic western world at the turn of the 19th century, when modernization was sweeping across the American continent, much to the disdain of free-roaming outlaws. You play as one of these outlaws and are struggling to hold together your gang against the law, rival gangs, the mafia, and an oil magnate.

Based on Rockstar's RAGE engine, Red Dead Redemption 2 takes advantage of the Vulkan graphics API, but also supports a DirectX 12 fallback. We tested using the default Vulkan renderer. The game can be moderate thru heavily taxing on most modern machines, but rewards fast hardware with impressive eye candy.
