Power Consumption

Let us now check on how much power the AS-204TE needs in sleep, idle, and during heavy throughput.

We use a GW Instek GPM-8212 power analyzer for all power consumption measurements.

Sleep, Idle and Load

Genreal power consumption was low, but not as low as we expected it to be since its low-clocked Atom CPU wasn't as efficient as we thought it would be, although it also consumed more power because it struggled to keep up with the tasks we assigned.

Power Consumption in Standby Mode

Vampire power or phantom load is the amount of power a device consumes when it is switched off, but still plugged into the power grid. Phantom power should, according to the ErP Lot 6 2013 directive, be below 0.5 W.

As you can see in the above graph, the NAS meets the ErP Lot 6 2013 requirements with ErP mode enabled.
