A Closer Look

Graphics Card Cooler Front
Graphics Card Cooler Back

The cooler comes in red transparent plastic with a pretty flame job. Recently my mother visited me and wondered "why does the card have to look this pretty if it goes inside the computer case anyway?"
On the bottom of the cooler you find four thermal pads that make contact with the memory. The big thermal pad is for the voltage regulators which are cooled by the heatsink as well.

The card has an internal CrossFire connector, which doesn't require the old chunky cables which were present on older cards. Each 2600 package should have one CF bridge, you need to connect both for operation of the cards in CrossFire.

Graphics Card Memory Chips

AMD uses 512 MBit Samsung K4U52324QE-BC09 GDDR4 memory chips, which are specified to run at 0.9 ns which is 1111 MHz.

With the cooler removed you can clearly see how the memory chips are arranged around the GPU.

Graphics Chip GPU

The GPU used is the RV630 revision A13.

Even though there is a voltage regulator chip present it can not be controlled via software.
