The long-awaited AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 is essentially a repackaged variant of the company's Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 GC553G2 Capture Box (reviewed here), using a PCI Express Gen 3 x4 interface instead of 10 Gbps USB-C. While it has over three times as much bandwidth (32 Gbps) at its disposal due to the interface change, it supports no additional capture resolutions or refresh rates, such as 4K120 or 4K144. Everyone who waited for this capture card to launch will probably feel somewhat disappointed by that, but AVerMedia is clear in saying that they only wanted to offer an alternative to users whose streaming rigs aren't equipped with a 10 Gbps USB-C port.

With that out of the way, what we have here is a well-made and exceptionally capable capture card. It can be used to capture high-quality video in up to 4K60, while gaming at 4K144 at the same time, all thanks to its HDMI 2.1 input and output. It can also capture video in 1440p120 and 1080p240, with a 1440p240 or 1080p360 pass-through. If you own an ultrawide 3440x1440 monitor, your pass-through refresh rate will be limited to 120 Hz, and that's pretty much the only aspect where the AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 is less than stellar. Of course, ultrawide streaming and capture aren't very popular, nor is that likely to change in the foreseeable future, so to most this will be a non-issue.

If you're looking for a powerful capture card but don't have the option to connect it to a 10 Gbps USB-C port, or you prefer to use a PCI Express card to reduce the cable clutter that's inherent to any external capture card, the Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575 is a great choice.
