Final Thoughts and Conclusion

  • The Biostar RACING P1 has an unknown retail price at the time of writing. It is expect to cost less than $200.
  • Low power use (<10 W)
  • Completely silent design
  • Affordable pricing
  • Small size
  • LED lighting
  • Micro SD slot
  • Six USB ports (2 in front and 4 in the rear)
  • Single-channel memory performance
  • Extremely limited expansion capabilities
  • Low (but adequate) performance
The Biostar RACING P1 mini PC is an interesting starter device. With Windows10 installed, it is capable of most basic Internet functions while also truly barely using any power at all to do so. The onboard LED makes for a nice ambient glow when installed into the VESA bracket, making it a neat, simple option for late-night web use because of its completely silent design. I could put the Biostar RACING P1 in my bedroom and my wife wouldn't even notice it there.

When it comes time to think about the performance offered there can be no mistaking that the Biostar RACING P1 is hardly racing across our performance tests. External storage support is good, but anything else has this unit sitting right at the bottom of nearly every chart. Then you look at the power charts, and it is not at all surprising why.

I am unsure of retail pricing at this time, but for a cool $100, this unit makes for a decent Netflix box for just about anybody, but not everybody needs one these days when most newer TVs offer the same sort of functionality. However, if you are without a web-enabled TV and are looking to add that functionality with relative ease, the Biostar RACING P1 makes for a great choice.
