Initial Setup



Getting a look at what the RGB looks like when powered on is a little bit underwhelming. The LEDs on the default settings are quite dim, making it hard to photograph well with the lights on. Straight on, the lighting is fairly even, but from the sides, you can see individual LEDS. While aesthetics is subjective in nature, this is certainly not the best example of a lighting implementation. A win for Colorful is that this memory does match the ASUS Z790 Maximus APEX or any motherboard that has anodized colored heatsinks.

Enabling XMP Profile

This Colorful CVN ICICLE 6600 MT/s memory kit had no stability issues during the testing phase. However, a quick reminder that compatibility will greatly depend on the motherboard OEM. From testing various motherboards, it is advised to only use this memory with a Intel Z790 based motherboard due to many Z690 motherboards not being validated to support 6600 MT/s by the motherboard manufacturer. For best results, it is always suggested to seek out the motherboards manufacturer memory QVL list, or at least, check the maximum supported memory frequency the vendor recommends for that specific motherboard in question.
