Value and Conclusion

  • The Cooler Master MasterCase SL600M sells for US$199 MSRP. Expect to find a similar price in Europe, but with taxes included.
  • Extremely sleek design
  • Great mix of materials with the aluminium panels and glass side, as well as a solid construction
  • Unique and useful engineering inside the case
  • Can easily hold up to eight hard drives
  • Radiator support in the ceiling and floor of the case
  • HDD-mounting plates may also be used to hold pumps or reservoirs
  • USB ports light up when motion is detected
  • Real USB-C 3.1 Gen2 included
  • Built-in fan controller
  • Ability to rotate motherboard expansion slots to showcase multiple GPUs
  • Two 200 mm fans included in floor of chassis
  • Unique placement of PSU with the ability to hide it perfectly
  • Excellent cable management and clean build possibilities
  • Removable dust filter on underside
  • Motion sensor for USB lighting is a bit too sensitive
  • Ability to rotate expansion slots not the most useful feature, especially as you already have two vertical slots and still have to buy the PCIe ribbon cables to make the most of it
  • Weird set of screws for our review sample
The Cooler Master MasterCase SL600M aims to offer an option for those professionals who require clean looks but also love to showcase the tech that makes their systems run. Incidentally, that also means gamers may find the SL600M just as intriguing. The chimney effect—something we have seen in other cases before—aims to keep all the components within as cool as possible by allowing hot air to rise.

Even though the SL600M does not feature any traditional hard-drive trays, you may still install up to eight drives within due to four 2.5" slots and four multi-purpose trays for 2.5"/3.5" units. In addition to that, thanks to the unique placement of the PSU bay, there is plenty of space for long GPUs, as well as a CPU cooler, but you may also opt for liquid-cooling setups if you are so inclined.

All this makes the Cooler Master MasterCase SL600M a great case, but to justify a US$200 price tag, there needs to be a bit more, and there is. On top of the excellent I/O panel with its three generations of USB ports and built-in fan controller, you get a great material mix and USB ports that light up, which means you can easily connect your gadgets to it even in the darkest of environments.

The Cooler Master MasterCase SL600M is the sleekest chassis I had the pleasure of taking a look at for a long time, and I wonder if there will ever be an all-black version of it.
