The Cooler Master MH630 is an interesting analogue gaming headset and a fine addition to the more affordable range of this product category. For $59/€59, you're getting a brand-name headset that offers good sound and excellent microphone quality, terrific wearing comfort, removable ear cushions, and intuitive on-board controls—basically everything you might hope for when on a limited budget, but don't feel like experimenting with no-name brands.
Should you choose it over the USB-powered MH650 or is it better not to save $20/€20? Well, that solely depends on the quality of your existing sound card. If your current gaming headset is analogue and you are running into such issues as not being able to play it loud enough or have constant microphone buzz, you should definitely try to save up and buy the MH650 instead. The MH650 comes with its own built-in sound card with a hefty supply of raw power, a clean microphone input, and 7.1 virtual surround sound. On the other hand, if you're happy with the performance of your sound card, by all means buy the MH630 instead. It sounds somewhat hollower and less refined in the high range compared to the MH650, but is still a good-sounding gaming headset capable of delivering a lively performance when listening to music, watching movies, or playing single player games, and has excellent spatial positioning in multiplayer first person shooters. The microphone capsule is really good too—it's not often that we get such nice microphone in this price bracket.
Along with the SteelSeries Arctis 1 (
