I'm happy to report that Cooler Master, after a period of searching, finally has a great gaming headset in its peripheral lineup. The company took a smart approach when designing the MH751: They went with a pair of proven headphones, equipped them with a great microphone, resisted the urge to slap on a ton of unnecessary LEDs, and kept the price of the finished product lower than what the headphones themselves would cost you.

That resulted in the Cooler Master MH751, a no-nonsense analogue gaming headset that's well built, performs really well—definitely better than you'd hope for after spending $80—and feels like a hug for your head. It's hands down one of the most comfortable gaming headsets I have ever used. Thanks to its unobtrusive aesthetics, it seamlessly transforms into a pair of mobile headphones: you'll simply yank out the microphone, plug the MH751 into your smartphone and be on your way.

I only see two downsides to this headset, with neither being a deal-breaker. It's somewhat lacking in the bass department, which can be fixed by using an equalizer. It responds very well to equalization, so you have quite a bit of freedom to modify its sound signature to your liking, although I wouldn't really touch anything except for the low end. This doesn't mean that the MH751 has no bass at all. It's safe to say that many users won't find it lacking at all because it's definitely present; it only lacks a bit of depth and energy. The other drawback has to do with the positioning of the remote control, which is too far down the cable for my taste. I'd like to have it closer to my chest. Still, once you get used to its location, it does its job without any issues.

Because it does so many things right, I have no trouble recommending the Cooler Master MH751 to anyone looking for a great gaming headset in the sub-$100 price range.
