Cooler Master V650 SFX Gold Power Supply

Packaging and Contents

Cooler Master also supplied us with their V650 SFX PSU to utilize in this review. It is from the same family of products we have seen pre-installed inside the NR200P Max and comes in a full-color package with an image of the unit on front and all the necessary details on the back.

Cooler Master includes eight screws, several zip ties, an ATX adapter frame, and a few Velcro strips as part of the V650, which is more than most and a nice value addition. Naturally, there is the classic power cable and full set of flat, internal leads to connect everything to the unit.

A Closer Look

Being an SFX variant, the power supply is naturally compact. The 92 mm fan won't engage at light loads, making this power supply a semi-passive one.

Being fully modular, the V650 has nicely embedded connectors, so it doesn't take up any more room than absolutely necessary. On top of that is an on/off switch on the side facing the exterior of any classic setup. A label on the panel opposite the fan will let you know what the unit is capable off.

While all sides of the Cooler Master V650 are flat, the one that would usually be facing the user in a classic layout has a bit of an embossed shape, which is rather interesting as that takes away volume internally, which s already in short supply with the SFX format. Looks like Cooler Master managed to cram in all that was needed with a little room to spare.
