A Closer Look - Inside

Simply remove the two thumbscrews holding each panel in place to access the interior. Various black elements within the case contrast nicely with the white color scheme. A large and various smaller openings in the motherboard tray allow you to easily change the CPU cooler, or nicely route cables within the Scout 2, and 20 mm of space behind the motherboard tray and the additional 6-7 mm due to the extruded side panel should make tidily hiding things away easy.

There are two sets of cages within the chassis, but the top cage has a removable side to free up space for long graphics cards. It may also have a single 120 mm fan attached to it if you keep it in place. Looking closely will reveal two additional pre-installed fans in the front. These give the chassis the "Advanced" suffix. In the very top are the three 5.25" bays with the flipping lock mechanism each. We have come across this mechanism before and it works, but does not hold the drives all that well.

The PSU bay in the bottom features four little foam dots the power supply is placed upon. Above that are the eight expansion slots with covers that are each held in place by a thumbscrew. The only 120 mm fan can be found in the top. It has the signature holographic Cooler Master sticker on it. The embedded LEDs are not powered through the 3-pin connector but a separate 2-pin cable that is attached to the LED toggle switch in the top of the chassis.

A quick look at the ceiling of the chassis reveals room for two 120 mm fans. Whether the configuration allows for a 240 mm radiator to be installed remains unclear as there might not be enough room; and Cooler Master does not advertise any such compatibility.

All the cables within the Scout 2 are black, which adds to the Scout 2's overall design. These include your usual case of I/O connectors and special plugs for the fan's LED to be toggled on/off.
