Corsair Glaive RGB Review

Shape

The Glaive is an ergonomic mouse for right-handed users, with a contoured slope on the right side similar to a Razer Deathadder or Zowie EC1-A. It comes with interchangeable thumb pieces which allow for customizations of the shape to satisfy a variety of users.

Weight: 121 g
Height: ~44.5 mm
Width: ~70 mm
Width at gripping area: ~ 66 mm
Length: ~ 126 mm
Number of buttons: 6

In these pictures, the mouse is equipped with its smooth default thumb piece.

Here's another look at the default thumb piece attached to the mouse. It's a smooth rubber that still offers a good grip.

The first alternative is a patterned thumb piece that also extends outward a bit at the top, which nets the mouse a bit more width.

The last thumb piece is truly a thumb rest as it stretches out far enough for you to lay your thumb on it completely - your thumb won't touch the mouse pad. Personally, I'm not a fan of mice that have this feature, but as an alternative, I think it's smart to add for those who do like such a thumb rest.

This shows how the thumb pieces are connected to the mouse; you can see the two orientation pieces the thumb pieces align with. The thumb piece is then held in place by two magnets underneath, inside the mouse.

In the pictures below, you can see how I hold the mouse, and the grip I use. This might give you an idea of whether the Glaive also fits your needs when it comes to its shape.

Comparison

Here, you see the mouse in comparison to similarly shaped mice; these are, starting on the left and moving to the right, the Tt Esports Venator X, Zowie EC1-A, Corsair Glaive RGB, Logitech G403, and SteelSeries Rival 310.

Above are direct comparisons to the mice mentioned earlier. To me, the mouse feels most similar to the EC1-A, but don't expect it to be too similar.

Actual Weight

The Glaive has a partial aluminum frame that gives it quite a bit of weight. This is a downside for me as with the mouse placed on my scale, it weighs in at 121 g, which is more than all its competitors in the comparison weigh. This is in line with its official specification of 122 g. It still isn't too heavy in relation to its overall size; however, I think it could have been lighter without compromising its customization options by much. The section for the exchangeable thumb rests uses up a lot more plastic than a solid shell. In addition to that, the thumb pieces also have some extra weight to them. I know weight is not a big issue for many users, but especially for gaming mice, it should always be a priority to go as lightweight as possible.

In this case, customization was prioritized over weight, which is fine for me; it's only bad if mice are relatively heavy without any redeeming features.

In light of the customization options and the aluminum frame, I have to say that Corsair obviously did their best to keep the weight in a usable range, and that is a commendable effort. This is also why I won't deduct any points for the weight here.

Here, you can see the weight of the actual components without the additional weight of the cable. Apparently, the cable routing within the mouse alone adds 4 g.
