Introduction
Corsair just added another gaming headset to their HS product family. Its name is the HS80 RGB Wireless, and as you can gather from its name, it's another wireless addition to the lineup. With the $150/€150 price tag, it's positioned above the $100 HS70 Pro Wireless (
reviewed here) and $120 HS70 SE Wireless. Its price matches that of the HS75 XB Wireless (
reviewed here), which might seem strange at first, but can be explained by the fact that the HS75 XB Wireless offers Xbox (and PC with the appropriate wireless dongle) connectivity, while the HS80 RGB Wireless supports the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and macOS.
While Corsair obviously didn't want to create a new gaming headset family for its portfolio, the HS80 RGB Wireless could easily be put into its own category because it shares no visual resemblance to the rest of the HS lineup. Design-wise, it can be considered a spiritual successor to the
Void lineup, to which it brings a host of meaningful improvements, a completely different pair of speaker drivers, and an improved microphone. Like the HS75 XB Wireless, the HS80 RGB Wireless also includes the Dolby Atmos license, so its owners can enjoy the best virtual surround sound experience on the market.
