Software

Like every other Corsair product, the Katar Pro Wireless is compatible with iCUE, Corsair's powerful yet resource-hungry software suite. In terms of options, the selection for the Katar Pro Wireless is rather barebones. CPI can be adjusted from 200–10,000 CPI, in increments of 100 and for three levels. Polling rate selection (125/250/500/1000 Hz), a power-saving toggle, and macro and button remap functionality are available as well. All settings are applied immediately and saved to the on-board memory, so the software does not need to be running (or be installed) all the time. On my system, the software has a RAM footprint of 340 MB on average when running in the foreground, along with a considerable CPU and GPU time cost, and a footprint of 205 MB when minimized to the system tray. Upon exiting the application, several processes, including headset drivers despite me not owning a Corsair headset, keep running, totaling a RAM footprint of 42 MB on average.

Battery Life

Corsair states a maximum battery life of up to 135 hours. Corsair doesn't specify whether this figure only applies to Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz mode, or both. The Katar Pro Wireless also has a Power Saving mode, which automatically reduces the polling rate to 125 Hz and sleep timer to 10 second, both of which could be done manually just as well. A very basic battery indicator gives a rough estimate of remaining battery life. During testing, this indicator remained at "High," which is very inconclusive as to whether the indicated battery level is accurate or not.
