Backrest

This chair has a unique and highly stylized backrest. It has flared shoulder and hip rests, with gold-stitched "Hyper-Dura" leatherette and Micro suede-like materials. Cougar touts it's body-embracing design featuring a multi-zone backrest. The headrest adjusts vertically and is soft and secure. The shoulder wings are separate from the central flat back, which is also separate from the lower lumbar and hip-hugging edges. There are significant gaps above the shoulder/around the neck, and on the edges of the back. This allows for airflow, along with space for the lumbar pillow to clip around the waist of the chair.

The entire assembly is tucked into the injection-molded shell that is woven into a carbon-pattern. This PA fiberglass-reinforced plastic shell is designed to have slight flexibility but overall rigidity for longevity and support. It all comes together to make a really slick-looking back with lots of interesting facets and angles. Some may consider the design to be over-stated, but in this black-and-gold pattern, it looks extremely clean.

Seat

The seat echoes of the same design aesthetic as the backrest, sporting a black-with-gold-stitch segmented layout. The same leatherette material represents the majority of the seat, with the edges lined in suede-like material. The edge of the seat features a pronounced raised design to keep you secure, and the entire cushion sits in bucket of a plastic shell that encompasses the whole base. The seat is flat, with a slight back-tilt, and features another slight gap between itself and the backrest, enabling more airflow.

Armrests

The armrests have a certain amount of design to them that may be polarizing for consumers. They have a convex shape to them, and a trapezoidal outer shelf that slopes down, presumably for pulling the chair around. They seem bulky, but are quite dense and comfortable. I prefer a more flat armrest, as the convex nature of the armrest makes it less comfortable to rest your arm on the edge of the shelf.

The armrests feature 4D adjustability with height, ability to move in/out, and to rotate the angle. Their actions are smooth, chunky, and satisfying, and they feel very durable and well-made.

Base and Wheels

The base is perhaps the least attentively designed component of this chair. It is very straightforward due to being constructed of unadorned steel, and is lightweight.

Pillow

The pillow is covered in the same leatherette material as most of the chair, and feels durable and firm yet plush. It's well constructed and features a Cougar logo in gold to match the chair aesthetics. It is broad and flat, allowing for a lot of coverage.
