As a first look into Cougar's keyboard portfolio, the PURI TKL gave me mixed feelings. That is, until I saw the price point, which has things looking better. Assuming you can access the product at the $70 price point or equivalent in your region, pricing is at the lower end of new keyboards that offer backlighting and genuine Cherry MX switches. The latter goes a long way in making up the product cost of the keyboard with Cherry charging more per switch than brands of other non-optical, mechanical switch options. You can definitely find RGB backlit keyboards with more functionality at the same or lower price, but they will use switches from other manufacturers, and the general public usually prefers Cherry switches, which works in favor of the Cougar PURI TKL.
Keeping that in mind, the cons listed above seem more understandable, especially as the keycaps used are no different in quality than what CORSAIR, Razer, and Logitech use in keyboards that cost two to three times as much as well. I would like to see Cougar increase the product warranty, however, as there really is no excuse to just having a year when they claim to sell a product that is durable and well built. In particular, a longer warranty will also go a long way in reassuring customers who want to take advantage of the increased portability of the keyboard. Cougar has done more than most others in this regard, providing not only a detachable cable, but a sturdy magnetic cover as well.
The rest of the keyboard features are more check marks to hit a price point than anything else, but I do appreciate them choosing white for the single-color LED instead of the usual red or blue, which automatically helps them stand out more in that regard. There is extensive control over the lighting available as well, all done onboard, so there is no need to have a software driver either. The inclusion of the spare metal keycaps also makes it seem like a contender to offerings from the other, larger mainstream companies today. Overall, thanks mainly due to that price point, the PURI TKL does enough to merit a look and a half.
