This is my first time reviewing anything from Craft Ears, although I understand the unboxing experience is fairly consistent across the board. This can be good from a logistics point of view for a small team, although I also know customers who purchase expensive IEMs generally go in expecting something grand from the get-go. The Omnium ships in a small cardboard box that is adorned with the brand logo on the front, and a sticker on the back that confirms the IEMs inside, the fit type (universal or custom), and the serial number. The box opens from the side, having being held closed via magnets, like a gift box which now reveals a message from the owner on the underside. A sticker and a second message, this time on a printed letter, further greets us on top of a highly functional storage/carry case. This is a hard black plastic case that has environmental sealing, the Craft Ears logo in a glossy finish on the top center, and a sticker which should have your name, the IEM model, and serial number printed on it. In this case, these are marked TechPowerUp using our logo, which is a nice touch I was not expecting. There's a large latch to keep the case closed, and a carry strap on the side makes it easy to take this along or attach to another bag as needed.
Open the case to reveal a shaped foam sheet with cutouts for the IEMs and the attached cable, all in their own compartments for added protection. A zippered accessory bag is placed on the underside using hook-and-loop straps, and here we see other accessories in the form of a plastic ear tip box, again very convenient and fitting the function first theme going on. Craft Ears provides two types of silicone ear tips with the Omnium—a single white flange and all-back double flange—in sizes S/M/L. Note how the double flange tips have a wider bore and are on the shorter side compared to most other such tips we have seen before. We also get two cable terminations in a plastic zip-lock bag, with Craft Ears going to 3.5 mm TRS single-ended and 4.4 mm TRRRS balanced connectors that you will use with the cable. Retail units will also get a cleaning tool, shirt clip, and a dehumidifier in the box.
Speaking of which, since the stock cable comes pre-attached to the IEMs, separating these components helps with a closer examination of these items individually, and this is easy enough thanks to the use of standard 0.78 mm 2-pin connectors. Carefully dislodge the cable connectors by holding one of the IEM shells in one hand and applying outward pressure on the cable connector with the other, without wiggling things sideways or up/down. Repeat this with the other side and you are done!
