A Closer Look

It isn't often you get temperature monitoring in memory sticks, but just a glance shows that this isn't your standard memory. One side of the DIMMs has what at first appears to be a few labels on it, while the other gets a nice clean look with a simple logo on one end.

That logo is shown above. On the opposite side is a much smaller Crucial logo. It will be interesting to see if such logos remain now that Ballistix is becoming a brand of its own.

If you look closely at the heatspreaders, you'll get a peek at the DIMMs underneath. The seemingly modular design of the covers lets the ICs poke out a bit, with a metal "band" across the front of the ICs that is not much bigger than the labels on one side.

Alone, I really like how these sticks look from above; the Ballistix logo in bright white on a black surface.

As always, I did take a look at the end of the PCBs for any markings.

I didn't find anything.

Looking down through the end of the stick shows that the heatspreader's main body barely touches the sticks in some weird way, but the metal is pretty thin anyway. There is lots of space for airflow.
