Initial Setup

Its tall heatsink might be something you need to consider when it comes time to install the Ballistix Sport XT modules into your system because they measure in at 45.31mm. These are a bit taller than G.Skill's RipjawsX series and just a wee bit smaller than Kingston's Beast series, resulting in pretty much the same or better compatibility than most enthusiast modules with larger heatsinks, although this is becoming less of a concern with the wide proliferation of AIO watercoolers on the current market.


Installed into my Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H, the modules match the provided esthetic of the board pretty well, but only because the board is blue itself. Looking directly through one end of the DIMM shows the large gap inside the heatsink air can travel down. I like the look of these sticks quite a bit, but the color...is simply not one of my favorites.
