Buttons, Scroll Wheel

Out of the three new Dark Project mice, I thought the ME2 would have the worst buttons because of the shell design. I couldn't have been more wrong! The buttons on the ME2 are just fantastic. The two main buttons feel great, are both moderately light, tactile, and very spammable. They have next to no unnecessary travel either. The switches used here are blue shell Huano models that have a nominal lifetime of 20 million clicks.

As for the scroll wheel, it is great. The scrolling is rather light, but the notches are very well defined. The wheel has a textured rubber surface to eliminate chances of accidental slippage. The encoder is a 9 mm tall green core TTC.

The middle mouse button needs slightly more force to actuate than the main ones, but clicking it is still perfectly comfortable after even hours of use. Many mice out there have an overly tight middle click, but thankfully, the ME2 does not. The switch beneath the scroll wheel is a standard 3-legged Kailh one.

There are four side buttons on the ME2, and of course, the ones you don't want to use can be turned off in the software. These buttons are pretty good as well; they don't have too much pre travel and are quite tactile. Because of their narrow shape, they aren't in the way for me on the right side—I didn't have a single accidental actuation. These switches are manufactured by Kailh as well.

Lastly, the CPI button beneath the scroll wheel is up to its task for sure. It's not in the way, so no accidental clicks should occur. The click is again pretty nice—with slight pre travel, but the overall click-feel is rather tactile. Unsurprisingly, the switch is made by Kailh.

I also made a video in order to demonstrate how the buttons sound:

Mouse Feet

Two relatively narrow mouse feet are attached to the bottom of the mouse. These have quite a smooth, but rather uneven glide on the X and Y axis. Vertical movement seems to have more friction for some reason. They are aligned nicely and have no quality control errors. As mentioned before, a set of replacements are in the box, which is a nice addition (I would make them mandatory, to be honest).

Cable

Unfortunately, all Dark Project mice share the same, thick, and very stiff braided cable. I would highly advise using a bungee or affixing it somewhere so it doesn't drag on the mouse pad. It is 1.8 m long, and the USB connector is gold-plated.

Disassembling

Disassembling the ME2 doesn't take much time or effort, but the mouse feet will probably wrinkle up to where they are unusable in the process. There are four screws beneath them. Once removed, you can simply dispart the bottom and top. A ribbon cable inside connects the main PCB with the one that contains the side and CPI buttons.
