Software

You can download the driver software from the official website. The installer asks whether you would like the driver in English or Russian; there is no option to switch after the program is installed. Once launched, the software runs in a single window and minimizes to the system tray.

In the top-left area, you can access button mapping and macro controls, and below these are the profile options. There are four tabs on the right side, and each contains different settings. The first from the top has the resolution options. There are a total of six different CPI settings, with a color code assigned to each (this can be modified too). The second tab contains the lighting options—more on that in the next section. Inside the third, you can fiddle with Windows-related parameters. For some reason, the software enables the improve pointer precision option (Enhance Pointer Precision inside the Windows mouse options, or EPP for short); you would normally want to turn it off as it turns on cursor acceleration. Lastly, the fourth section has the polling rate options, which you can set from 125 to 1000 Hz.

As for usability, the The Dark Project ME3 software is pretty good, but I encountered minor bugs, such as only the currently opened tab having a header text. Also, the CPI configuration is a bit messy; it would be easier if you could also type in your desired value instead of fiddling with the slider. Other than these and the already mentioned EPP-enabling, it's absolutely alright. The program consumes around 11 MB of memory while running in the background and takes up less than 5 MB of disk space in my configuration. Once you set everything up, you can simply uninstall it if you don't want it installed because the mouse has on-board memory.

Lighting

RGB lighting took over the gaming world, and the ME3 isn't a renegade in this case either. There are lots of different effects to choose from. The transitions are quite good and the effects are decent, but I've considerably better lighting. And again, the software has some minor inconveniences here as well, but overall, everything works fine. It's interesting to see that the scroll wheel and back logo always follow the color of the set CPI value; the set lightning effects don't get used in these two zones.

I also made a video in order to demonstrate these lighting effects:
