Dobot Magician Robotic Arm Review 14

Dobot Magician Robotic Arm Review

Introduction »

Packaging

Sized 324 mm × 276 mm × 465 mm (L × W × H) and weighing in at 8 kg, the box is rather large and pretty heavy. Within it is another box that contains the robotic arm. The package is hard enough and offers sufficient protection to the Dobot and its components. On the exterior, we find a few bits of general information on the Dobot and its abilities in two different languages, English and Chinese.

Contents

Thankfully, there is plenty of written information regarding the contents. Considering the fact that we have only scratched the surface of electronics, it took us a while to fully understand the shipping list.

Easily comprehensible instructions will help all those who, like us, are new to robots.

A USB cable, plastic bag with a few tools, the power adapter's wires, and a feeding pipe - these are only the beginnings of what is inside the package.

These are the components that come with the Dobot, modules and the end effectors, as they are called. Considered essential while using the laser kit, a pair of protective glasses has also been included in the package.

This is the power brick. Its model number is ADS-110DL-12-1, and it can provide 7 A with 12 V output. It's made by Shenzen Honor Electronic.

Here is Dobot's 3D printing end effector with a remote extruder that is used to deliver the PLA filament. A fan is also used to keep the module cool.

A glass plate, feed pipe, white PLA filament, masking (3G adhesive tape) tape, and an extruder are all part of the 3D printing kit.

The provided PLA filament.

The light pneumatic gripper for pick and place tasks is made out of metal.

The air pump kit consists of two parts, the air pump controller and the suction cup. If the object has a flat, smooth surface, the suction cup will be able to pick it up and move it around easily. The cup is molded to the 4th axis.

The writing and drawing kit consists of a pen holder and a pen. You can replace the pen with another so long as the replacement fits inside the holder.

The laser kit comes with five sheets of kraft liner paper, a pair of protective glasses, and the latest advanced 405nm 500 mW laser tube of blue-violet emission, which has higher output power and a wider engraving range and is for such materials as leather, kraft liner boards, wood, etc. A fan is included for cooling. The laser kit can control the laser's output power to engrave via PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). This laser kit is not for cutting purposes and should not be used on metal. Finally, all connectors on the laser kit (and the rest of these kits) are labeled in order to help users with installation.

The joystick control kit by GameSir comes in a nice velvet pouch. The controller is of good quality and the joysticks and buttons have a good feel.

Three modules for USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connection are included.
