ECS A75F-A AMD FM1 Review

Value & Conclusion

  • The ECS A75F-A is available now with an MSRP of $84.99
  • Fantastic performance and features given the price
  • Fully featured software package for entry-level users
  • EFI BIOS with support for 3 TB+ drives
  • Full seven expansion slots.
  • Decent overclocking given the small price
  • Nothing missing in the box to take full advantage of all the board has to offer
  • BIOS options not truly ready for hardcore overclocking
  • Slot configuration not ideal for CrossFire with multiple discrete GPUs
  • Smaller-than-ATX size
  • Limited memory timings
  • Not all voltage options work fully
We quite enjoyed the time we spent with the ECS A75F-A. Although it's not the best overclocker, at stock, it does a very admirable job in the performance department, and the great audio performance is just an added bonus we never expected. For those looking for an affordable AMD APU board option, the ECS A75F-A definitely delivers, and if you want to overclock a bit, it can do that too. We were disappointed at the voltage options, and lack of secondary memory timings in the BIOS, but considering that the ECS A75F-A only costs $85, that is more than acceptable in our books.
Offering nearly everything the competition does, and then some, is a good place to be, and the pricing is a sure sign that ECS is well aware of the market and where its products fit in the retail space. It didn't set any records for performance when overclocked, but it did set the bar fairly high, and for that, we give ECS a big old "Recommended" award, because we feel it really does deserve it.
