Enermax PlatiGemini 1200 W Review

The Power Supply

Visually the PlatiGemini 1200 W has a lot of resemblance to the previously reviewed REVOLUTION D.F. X 1200 W. It has a similar fan grille, and is finished in black matte. For extra bling, both sides of the unit feature the shiny Enermax and PlatiGemini logos.

The back of the power supply features a standard C13 socket for the AC cable and has the D. F. Switch (turning the fan to spin in the opposite direction for a short while to remove the accumulated dust). While the power supply has a hybrid operational mode with the fan not spinning at all until we reach the 60 % load mark, the hybrid mode cannot be switched off.

When we take a look at the side with the connectors, we see no surprises there. We can find six SATA/Molex connection headers, three PCIe 8 pin headers, two CPU 8 pin headers, one 12V-2x6 header and two headers for ATX12VO and the classical 24 pin ATX power cable. As we did not have any additional 12V-2x6 / 12VHPWR cables, we don't have any hybrid 2 x 8 pin connectors here either.

The PlatiGemini weighs in at a healthy 1.76 kg, suggesting a larger number of components and cooling capacity than the 1200 W D.F. X.
