Value and Conclusion

  • The Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo Wheel sells for $350 or 300.00€ at the Fanatec online store. This is much more than you will ever pay for any steering wheel out there. The moste expensiv alternative is the G25 from Logitech for 179€.
  • Porsche design looks great
  • Build quality of wheel exceptional
  • Wireless, easy to set up
  • Choice of two types of gear boxes
  • 1GB Porsche design USB Stick.
  • Pedals including clutch
  • Motorised steering wheel
  • Force feedback
  • Vibration
  • Power supply included
  • Backlit buttons
  • Playstation and PC compatible
  • Much higher price, when compared to the competiton
  • Plastic of gear boxes feels hollow
  • Leg wings are simple plastic molds
  • Built in force feedback strong - a bit too strong.
  • Inadequate packaging
Fanatec is moving into new a new era with the Porsche 911 Turbo wheel. It costs much more than any other brand out there, but comes complete with multiple gear boxes. The large Porsche wheel is an exact replica of the one found in a real Porsche 911 and the real leather is stitched on perfectly by hand. Playing with the entire unit using the foot pedals is really a joy. That said, it really comes down to price. I think only die hard Porsche fans would be willing to spend so much for a steering wheel, even though you get all the fancy options available. The 300€ or 350 US Dollar price tag gives you wireless racing fun as well as the Porsche feeling. The big downside is really the build quality of the pedal and the gear boxes. This puts a slight damper on the experience. It would have been great to see pedals made out of aluminum and a gear box with some metal as well. Fanatec put a lot of detail into the wheel, with the real leather and nice Porsche logo, but the pedals and gear boxes seem to have been a bit rushed.
