  • The Fnatic Flick 2 is available for $59.99.
  • Top-of-the-line sensor
  • Main switches rated for 50 million clicks
  • RGB lighting looks nice
  • Great surface coating
  • Good build quality
  • Comfortable palm grip with medium to large hands (intuitive)
  • Software needs to be finished
  • Buttons and scroll wheel could use some improvement
  • No extra mouse feet in the box
Fnatic Gear doesn't have a lot of experience with making mice, but their second series is already great, and the first models they released are pretty good as well. However, there is always room for improvement, and I really hope the company will be more careful with upcoming models.

Just like the Flick 2, the Clutch 2 is quite an enormous mouse (enormouse, let this joke slip?) with a shape that isn't taken from older mice, nor does it much resemble the feel of any other mouse I've tried in the past. It's a very comfortable shape for palm gripping, but might not be an optimal choice with smaller hands.

The choice of materials on this mouse is particularly good. The surface coating on the top area is nice and grippy, and the sides are rubberized and have some texture to them, so no slips should occur while in intense situations during gaming sessions. Of course, this is quite intuitive, but generally speaking, this surface can be called ideal. As for the build quality, it's not entirely flawless, but it's close. The mouse is very well put together and really massive and sturdy; the only issue I could find was with the buttons.

Thankfully, Fnatic took the right route and picked one of the best optical sensors currently available; the PixArt PMW3360 works as it should because it's pretty much perfect in every aspect. I found no anomalies or errors during my testing and gaming periods. This sensor has some smoothing above 2000 CPI, so if you play competitively, I highly suggest staying on or below that level.

The main buttons have some unnecessary travel, and when you tap them lightly, they produce some noise because they don't touch the micro switches by default. Also, the scroll wheel could be way better; the steps are quite hard to scroll through, but the notches don't have much tactility. These small errors will not be a letdown for most people, but at this price point, they really should not exist.

Two huge mouse feet provide a smooth and consistent glide for the Clutch 2, but they do so with slightly more friction than the average. Also, no extra set is provided with the mouse, which is a pity. The cable is not braided and has a smooth surface that doesn't generate a lot of drag on the mouse pad. It's fairly thin and light, but could afford to be a bit more flexible in my opinion. However, it's still a tad better than most of the competition.

Unfortunately, the driver software is still in early access, which is strange since the mouse has been out for more than half a year now. Hopefully, they will fully release it soon as the macro functions haven't been implemented yet. Otherwise, Fnatic OP is a pretty good. It has a nice and logical layout and sleek design, but as an all-in-one software for most second-generation Fnatic Gear products, it's quite heavyweight. The mouse has 8 MB of on-board memory, so you can delete the software once you've set everything up. RGB lighting looks fantastic on the Clutch 2; the scroll wheel and Fnatic logo on the left side panel both light up according to the settings you picked. The transitions are nice and smooth, and the colors are vivid.

Both the Clutch 2 and Flick 2 are very close to being called editor's choices, but they need better buttons. I really hope this matter will be looked into, and the software will be quickly finished as well. At nearly $60, the Clutch 2 isn't a cheap model, but if you look at the competition, it's still a fair offer in my opinion. I would gladly recommend the Clutch 2 to those who find the shape and specifications suitable.
