A Closer Look - Outside

The Focus G Mini looks exactly the same as the larger Focus G, but naturally has a smaller format. It comes with an acrylic window to reduce overall cost, and the front consists of mostly metal mesh.

There is very little branding on the front with just a tiny logo on the very bottom edge. You may pull the panel off to reveal two 120 mm intake fans right out of the box. In the rear, things look very traditionally laid out with the PSU bay on the bottom and the motherboard area above it.

Even the acrylic window is pretty standard but not completely flat with the metal it is framed in. Fractal Design has chosen not to tint it, which ensures that you see all the parts within the case clearly. Looking at the opposite side, it is made completely out of metal but features the same shape to retain overall symmetry.

The entire front is made out of fairly fine metal mesh with a honeycomb structure behind it for added support. The Focus G Mini comes with two 5.25" drive bays, which is quite unusual considering most cases these days forego these completely.

The bottom half in the rear consists of the PSU bay and four expansion slots. Each is protected by a separate, reusable cover that is held in place by a thumb screw, as you will see later on. In the top is another possibility to install a 120 mm fan if you like, which means Fractal Design includes a total of two units within the Focus G Mini.

As the Focus G Mini can be considered an entry-level case, it comes with a basic set of I/O consisting of a single USB 3.0, one USB 2.0, and the traditional audio plugs next to the power and reset buttons. In this day and age, it would have been nice to see nothing but USB 3.0, though, as it would save Fractal a cable and makes the chassis more attractive to the end user.

Looking at the underside, there is a large metal mesh dust filter to protect the PSU intake area from grime and dirt. If you look closely, you will also see mounting holes for another 120 mm fan here as well.
