Value & Conclusion Func F30.R (Large)

  • The F30.R costs $19.99 for the base version, customized $22.99. It's totally different from the surface1030 and the 1030 Archetype because it's single sided. To make up for the loss of that choice, the F30.R (large) is way bigger and has a reflective surface so it should be more compatible with laser mice. At $19.99 it has a nice price/performance ratio even compared to the other two Func mats. (www.func.net).

The F30.R (large) is a really good mat if you need a mat with extremely low friction. I think that Func have sacrificed a bit too much precision in order to bring down the friction, but that really depends on your style of play. I like my mat to have some degree of friction, otherwise I tend to overshoot the target while making fast turns. Tracking is still incredible - not at one time did the mouse skip on this surface, neither did the pointer jerk around while editing photos in Photoshop. Overall this mat is really a bargain if you want the mat with the lowest friction on the market. I have never tried a mat with as little friction as the F30.R, after using it a little while I was still amazed by the ridiculously low amount of friction on this mat.
