A Closer Look

The blacked-out version of these G.Skill Ripjaws looks pretty darn good; never mind that these specific low-latency sticks have a huge capacity.

One side has the new standard Ripjaws logo stuffed into the middle up top, while directly on top (visible when the sticks are installed) is a G.Skill logo, silk-screened into the middle as well.

Flipping these over to take a look at the other side, we find a specification label instead of the G.Skill logo; it includes specifications, build date, and serial numbers.

On one end of the stick is the PCB identifier and on the other is a stamp with the stick's speed and capacity, printed onto the PCB itself.

There are a set of numbers for the PCB's layers and some golden "SA" letters I found. I found similar letters on other G.Skill sticks, but after years of seeing them, these golden letters don't seem to hold any meaningful significance.

One thing I noticed while closely examining these G.Skill Ripjaws V sticks is that the heatsink is a bit too small to cover the high capacity memory ICs that are hidden underneath. I guess 1 GB ICs are much longer than ICs with a lower data density.
