Setup Highlights

One of the really interesting things to see was just how differently the different contestants approached the insulation of the motherboards. Some were using conventional types like Neoprene and Vaseline, or Silicone to ward of condensation. Shop towels were used by the majority of contestants to absorb the condensation water.

Mikeguava went about in a completely different way and just submerged his motherboard in mineral oil. This seemed ideal for the situation in Taiwan, where the relative humidity is over 80% and with the air temperature close to 30°C the amount of water condensation on the cold parts is substantial.

Matose did had a more conventional type of setup and he was quick to find a stable setup that allowed him to take an early lead and put in time on all four benchmarks. This is crucial in a competition with a points system that awards you for just having a score. Matose's early lead was threatened a couple of times during the event but it seemed like he was in complete control the whole time being able to always better himself across the board. Matose held the lead for a long time without having a single top score in any of the four benchmarks. Matose used two big fans to aid the airflow around the north bridge and power components around the CPU.

Winning setup

Matose managed to get the best out of his hardware and posted some really fast times across the four benchmarks used for this particular OC event. The PiFast score was the fastest at the event and helped him to secure a substantial point lead over the runner up Stephenyeong.
