It is always exciting to experience the first product of a new brand entering the market. There are usually three ways to do so: either by offering a very affordable product that appeals to bulk buyers as much as it does to budget conscious consumers, the mainstream with a product that manages to offer more features than the competition at the same price point, or at the higher-end by re-inventing the status quo to justify the price premium. That last path is by far the hardest and riskiest to choose, but HAVN has clearly done so.
Coming out of semi-stealth with SKUs that start at $200 needs to push the engineering envelope. This means putting in the design effort, working through the many prototyping stages and working with the factories to ensure the quality is there for the custom tooling, to then branding and educating the public about all its uniqueness and how it makes your live better - gutsy to say the least.
HAVN nailed it.
The HS 420 series is gorgeous inside and out. There are so many innovations stuffed into this case, it truly feels like a team of designers got to sit down and dream up all kinds of things to then bring to market, without much restriction. That deserves recognition on its own. From the unique grommets and coupled with well implemented cable channels, to the focus on clean design and singular glass panel with a tight bend radius, there is so much to love about the case. What really makes this impressive is how it all comes together to offer a clean, functional build experience and then gets enhanced by the angled fan setup to guide cool fresh air right in front of the GPU fans.
With the ability to install 420 mm liquid cooling or a slew of fans, two separate PWM hubs to manage fans easily with the ability to install big & potent hardware, the HAVN HS 420 VGPU manages to check off all the functional boxes as well. There are a few areas of improvement, so one could argue that the HAVN HS 420 VGPU isn't perfect. But, considering this is their first product and the brand managed to push the boundaries so well on so many fronts, it does mean that the HS 420 series easily manages to disrupt the higher-end price segment right out of the gate.
