There have been over 15 other HIFIMAN product reviews on TechPowerUp, but this is my first foray with the brand. However, it may not be my first HIFIMAN review you will see, which is a hint and a half of there currently being others in my possession for testing. Regardless, I went in knowing that HIFIMAN is one of the more established and renowned audio brands from China. While mostly known for its planar magnetic headphones, HIFIMAN has dipped its toes into in-ear headphones, electrostatic headphones, and True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earphones in the past, including the TWS600 that impressed my fellow editor. There is a new HIFIMAN TWS product out now, and thanks to the company for providing TechPowerUp a review sample!

The TWS600 was HIFIMAN's first foray into the wild, competitive world of TWS earphones—one that gets harder to break into by the day. It currently sells for $99, with the general impression being that the original MSRP of $199 was not very competitive. Indeed, I have here over ten different TWS sets I can barely distinguish between, with all adopting a small single dynamic driver, one of the many Qualcomm TWS chipsets, a mobile app, and the form factor that is more or less established for the genre. HIFIMAN had to do something different to get more eyes on the new TWS800, and every single thing mentioned above is in some surprising ways different on the TWS800, which on its own should grab your attention. As per usual, we begin this review with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
