  • Passive cooling - no fan noise
  • Huge overclocking potential

  • High price
  • Needs two slots in the system
  • Not a low profile card

The HIS HD 4650 iSilence is an excellent choice for any media PC system. Its passive cooler ensures that you will not be disturbed by any fan noise while watching movies on your big screen. Even though it does not have a native HDMI output, the HDMI adapter is included in the package, so this is not much of a problem. ATI's UVD accelerates most video decoding functions resulting in a much lower CPU usage. Since ATI integrated an audio device for HDMI Audio inside their GPU, the card is extremely easy to set up and get running. Thanks to the excellent Zalman heatsink the card will stay within safe temperatures even in small cases with little or no airflow.
The only drawback of the HIS HD 4650 iSilence is the high price which might be the deciding factor in your buying decision. If you are just looking for a cheap card that can accelerate video decoding, then the HD 4350 should do an equally fine job for you at a fraction of the cost. If you are looking to play games, you may be better off spending a few bucks more and get a HD 4830. On the other hand, if you were planning to purchase STALKER Clear Sky anyway, then this will offset the cost of the card considerably, making it a pretty good deal.
