Introduction

i-Rocks is a Taiwanese peripherals company that we have covered before, especially when it comes to keyboards, offering unique features and aesthetics alike. A recent trip to Computex reminded me i-Rocks was taking a breather when it comes to the international market but was still releasing new keyboards and selling them domestically all this time. It appears now is the time for a renewed period of global sales and marketing alike so they requested a keyboard review which I was happy to comply with. We take a look at their K71R keyboard today, and thanks again to i-Rocks for sending a review sample to TechPowerUp!


To clarify again—the i-Rocks K71R is not a brand new keyboard. It launched in Taiwan in late 2021 but has not been easy to purchase globally until recently. It's based off the K71M reviewed previously, including with a very similar design, but updates a few things including the switches as well as offering wireless connectivity too. You still get two color options, the angled light bar and case, and a plastic light diffuser that not only extends past the top but goes all the way around the keyboard to provide for dynamic side lighting too. There's also a smart wheel on the top right corner which i-Rocks was arguably ahead of the curve on compared to all the keyboards with a knob/wheel now, so let's see how well the K71R holds up in 2023 in our review which begins with a look at the specifications in the table below.
