Intel XeSS Upscaling

XeSS (Xe Super Sampling) is a performance enhancement that Intel claims is technologically on par with NVIDIA DLSS 2 and AMD FSR 2.0, in that it leverages temporal data and AI deep-learning to reconstruct details. The best part about this tech is that it works not just on Intel Arc GPUs, but also NVIDIA and AMD ones. On Arc, it uses XMX native code that makes it highly optimized for this architecture, although on other brands, it uses a DP4a data-format fallback, which should come with some quality and performance penalty on other brands. On this page, we're evaluating the performance and image-quality of the various presets of XeSS, and comparing it with DLSS 2 as rendered on a GeForce RTX 3060. We are also testing XeSS (and DLSS) on the RTX 3060, to show you just how much of a difference Intel's XMX-native XeSS implementation on Arc GPUs makes.
